Hi everyone,

I have a question for those of you that have installed the bolt hood lock for the JL....i used to have one on my JK and absolutely loved it!

From photos i am able to find online, the quadratec website shows their main photo vs customer installed ones and the location seems to be different

The red JL is the main photo they have listed for the product and the silver one is a customer installed one

which one is more accurate? also, is there a way to adjust it to sit higher like the red one if the customer installed one is the more accurate one?

The reason why i am asking is because i am torn between an aev front bumper vs something else since mine has the plastic bumpers and it seems like if the location is like the bottom one, the aev bumper hoop will get in the way and not allow access for your jeep key

and as a follow up, how easy is it to relocate the factory front camera to a lower location if needed?

appreciate any insight you may share

There is no way to adjust the position of the lock as it sits in a predetermined location and bolts directly to the radiator frame. The silver jeep is similar to mine.

thank you both for your response!

do you know if any size key will work? if it has to be the jeep key then that eliminates the aev bumper for sure

Not so quick, Armen. I have an AEV front bumper and the Bolt hood lock.

It's still possible to use the Bolt lock after installing the AEV bumper, but you'll need to use just the Jeep key blade without the fob portion to access the lock.

I attached a key ring to the key blade, which gave me enough room to grasp the key and turn it.

Good luck!
