Note that the XR package on a willys is roughly 3.5" taller than the standard willys height. if you can afford it the XR is worth the money. comes with more than just the lift and wheels and tires. bigger breaks, better gearing, tailgate reinforcement, stronger axles and a couple other smaller things
Can you please confirm this? I thought the same with specs listed on most sites shows ground clearance as 12.9 and regular Willys 9.7 so 3.2 but this dude who introduced this jeep says 11 inches..? May be @JeepViking13 @sts90 can weigh in?

Xtreme Recon package Wranglers all have a ground clearance of 12.9 inches. That includes the Willys. Jim Morrison just misspoke. He also called it the Willys 392. Lol.

It's not easy talking in front of a Camera especially with people standing around all listening to every word you say. Very easy to slip up.

The XR package for $4k is actually a pretty good deal when you consider what it comes with (and assuming you will stay satisfied with the tires, wheels, and lift it comes with). Sure, for "just" tires, wheels, and lift it's not worth the money but when you add in the gearing and all of the other extra small items there is no way you could it for less.
A couple comments though, you don't "need" the Dana 44 heavy duty front axle for driving down the road. You also don't "need" the 4.56 gears, but they are nice. I would also like to see how much the brakes really change the driving experience also. The reason I say all that is there are a LOT, and I mean a LOT, of JK and JL's driving around on 35" or bigger tires that simply have a lift and the tires installed.....no gears, no break upgrades, etc... and they get along fine. Just because it's not the "best" doesn't mean it still can't be "good" or at least acceptable.

Yeah, what the Viking Said….

This subject has been beaten to death. I would advise just get your Jeep and enjoy a great starting point to build from for less money. I am 100% sure someone on here or locally will pay you for your Jeep if you decide to got a different route. The XR package is going for ADM everywhere on a lot if some one backs out of purchase. The journey is what your remember and talk about, not the end.

P.S. 2.0l + 4.56 gears= quicker that a stock Jeep should be... Not 392 fast but quick, and not as much of a gas pump fun tax….

I see a lot of help and parts in this community if I need to change anything. There is no point of overthinking unless it is major decision like 4dr vs 2dr etc.

If you’re gonna add the big tires and lift anyway, then the X-RAY would be the way to go. A stock Jeep with limited slip I’d very capable out of the box, XR more so, and Rubi still more so, however THE most important thing you can use is hats between your ears. I’ve seen less capable rigs rescue more capable ones through the driver’s skill set.

I take it on the trails by my house all the time. Nothing extreme though. This Friday's video I take both the Bronco and the Willys XR for a ride and review on the trail by my house.

the XR package gets you pretty much what i built the hard way, but for less money than it cost me.

i think it looks like a good value, and is probably what i would be ordering now if i were doing it over again. (it wasn’t an option when i built my 2021.)
I agree. For what you get, the package can’t be beat. I have it and so glad I went with the XR option
