Which exhaust?

Looking for an aftermarket exhaust. Thinking. Cat back. Would like dual pipes and most importantly no drone and not too loud.
‘thoughts and recommendations please?

Stock, no one really wants to hear a v6 or 4 with a loud exhaust unless it’s the factory performance exhaust on a performance car.

I have the flow master outlaw on mine. It’s a little on the loud side, but it has a nice gnarly note with that V6.

Had the Magnaflow axle-back dual tip black exhaust on my 19 2dr. Amplified exhaust tone, no drone, looked real nice and tucked up pretty high. The fit and finish is top notch. I think the price on them is pretty crazy now though. Got mine used from a fellow forum member for like $200.

Maybe consider departure angle in your choice, and not just sound. I chose the AWE exhaust on my 392 for that reason. As a side benefit it also sounds nice. Who knows what it would sound like on a 4 cyl or 6 cyl though.

I agree with what was posted above that the best sound from a 4 cyl or 6 cyl is none.

I’m considering either AWE or Corsa IF I ever swap it I’m very happy with the Corsa Sport on my Silverado but thats a 5.3 V8.

Got the Injen High Tuck Stainless during their anniversary sale several years ago. You can’t see it from the rear of the Jeep. Did this to the rear bumper and the muffler was untouched. The clearance was the goal. It’s no longer shiny like this install pic though

I'm very happy with my Borla Touring cat back exhaust going on 5+ years. There is no drone at all and super easy install. With the manual trans the stock exhaust was totally silent and made driving/shifting by ear difficult (at least to my old ears) It has just enough low frequency engine sound so I can actually hear the engine, but doesn't bother my neighbors and doesn't sound like a rattly coffee can exhaust. You're never going to make a 3.6 sound good by going louder anyway. The clearance isn't much better than stock, so if rock crawling is your thing, probably not going to improve things. I also like the subtle look of the dual black tips - big improvement over stock.

That sounds like a decent exhaust. I'll bet it would be super easy to take it to an exhaust shop and have them cut 4" out of the middle of those exhaust pipes after the muffler and then reweld the tips back on. You would have the sound you like and a decent departure angle.

Definitely possible - but I found this side view that shows how the pipe sits under the back. They are lower and straighter out the back than you'd think. You could probably cut them back to the hangars and just weld on a turn down. I think that Borla at least also offers other more low profile options (i think they call it their Climer models). But then you're into more than a bolt on and its louder. I don't do much that requires super high clearance and I certainly didn't want loud - so this one fits my use case perfectly--- your mileage may vary

That side picture shows better what I am talking about. If someone needed more clearance, they could just remove 4" of that exhaust tubing right after the exhaust hanger and reweld the tip on 4" closer to the Jeep. No downpipe needed. It would still look great, but without the tips sticking so far out.

Why would the OP buy and modify when high tuck systems are available. Nothing on the AWE is lower than the receiver hitch. The tips precede the bumper and are adjustable higher if wanted. ….. IMO, a Wrangler is the wrong vehicle for showing off oversized below and sticking out past the bumper tips, that Borla likes to do, and the muffler is angled damn near as low. The AWE is much better than the V8’s stock huge muffler with the tips sticking down. The only pull off I didn’t keep, went deservedly into the recycle
