When ordering a 392, why so many XRs?

Personally, I bought the XR(392 or 3.6) for the HD M210. Thicker tubes, cast knuckles, etc.

Just makes the decision of 37s that much easier.

If you are pending $80K on Wrangler, why not spend 5% more and get 4.56, 35s (that can be readily sold if you go 37s), stronger axles, tailgate reinforcement and and spare tire relocation (again helping with 37s) and the wider fenders to keep 35s or 37s road legal?

Yea, HD tubes being 10mm, it's more stout than the Ultimate 44, which is about 8mm tubes. And ultimate 44s are rated for 37s I believe.


FAD is definitely a breaking point, but all the breaks I've seen are from accidents.(hitting trees, cars, etc)

RCVs, HD ball joints, and should hold up nicely. I'm kinda curious if the 392 and XR ball joints are upgraded.

Gato, side topic. But sort of related to the XR, did your JLR not come with a skid under the FAD module? I ask because mine has a skid under it from factory.

Things not stock on the 392 is 4.56, tailgate reinforcement, spare relo, 1/2“ wider rim and small KO2 315s instead of 285s, mopar shocks. Everything else is stock.
My point is rims and tires are mostly taken off for something bigger/wider. Tailgate reinforcement and relo bracket is meh…. 35s fit on my carrier stock. I got the reinforcement as a separate option.

But, this relocation from mopar does fit a 37.

I think if you’re rollin with 37s, the tailgate ain’t gonna hold up even with the reinforcement.

Agree, and would like to add that 4.56’s are overkill with 35’s. Comparable rpm to mph of 373 gears and 33’s is 410’s and 36’s, 456’s and 38’s or 39’s( forget witch) so If you are not going bigger than 35’s a re-gear to 410’s is cheaper. But if you want 37’s XR is a no brainer.

I will admit, the 4.56 with 35s and the 8spd auto, even on the 3.6 moves like a freight train 0-60 considering its a jeep.

I would have bought an XR package for my 6sp JKUR in a second. No doubt, non 392 it is a no brainer for any jlur. Just think it is not a great value for a 392.

Youre adding quite a bit for $4k actually.
35's
17x8" rim (which is fine for a 37x12.5)
Tailgate reinforcement
Brake vac booster (which isnt listed)
4.56 gears
Revalved shocks.. although NOT Fox they are monotube and tuned for the heavier weight of the 35's.
Among other trivial things... all factory warrantied

I do agree however because the standard 392 already comes with a lot of the standard Rubicon XR features (beadlock capable wheels... axles) already... it should be a cheaper option than other trims. Much like the SOT top is a cheaper option since body colored hardtop is standard on the 392

Everyone keeps saying that 37s on 8” rims are fine. Then why does every manufacturer not say that, not one…. I know they will mount them up. So is that it? Why have that spec at all then? next time you are with your off road buddies, see how many 37s are mounted on 8”s… aired down….

Probably the majority of them as thats a very common rim width. And fwiw they are 8.5" wide if using the actual beadlock rings... which if youre going to air it down regularly... I would.

Also.. I see 8" rim recommended all over the place. One half inch isn't going to make or break it regardless
