I know it’s a generic question, but after reading lots of threads I figure maybe it’s the right question to ask.

I sold my last 2019 JLUR about 18 months ago and have regretted selling it ever since. That one was the 3.6 engine, had a 3.5” lift and 37” tires. When I got it new it had pretty bad death wobble, and I just wonder if there is anything like that being seen on the new ones or 392’s. I have kicked around ordering another 3.6 Rubi and doing the lift, wheel, tire stuff again, but as of now I think I could leave a 392 stock (well maybe exhaust….).

I am pretty close to ordering, just working out the color mostly at this point. My last Rubi was granite crystal and wife likes that color best, also considering Hydro Blue, 41, or Anvil color. From what I can tell nobody seems to be upset that they went with the bigger motor, anything else to consider?

Also I’ve never bought from an out of state dealer, but that is my current plan. Any need to knows there? Thanks.

If you are looking at price the MOAB is a “package” so there is the possibility of a coming more base model, ie black top and perhaps other standard equipment made options. …. If you live in one of the 7 not yet emissions approved states you have to wait anyway.

I just ordered a 2026 Granite Crystal Rubicon X - first time ever ordering a Jeep, second time ever ordering a vehicle. Anvil was my second choice, 41 my third. The reason I like Granite is because every Jeep has a ton of blacks and greys in the trims, plastics, etc. If you order any other color you end up with quite a few clashing colors. It's unbelievable that the Rubicon X wheel alone has 4 different colors - chromo lugnuts, black fake beadlock ring, silver and dark grey spokes. Please give me an all black wheel - I want to be able to just spray that s$@# when I get them scratched on the rocks every other weekend.

In any event, I'm hoping the Rubicon X will in fact be quieter and a bit more refined. We shall see in about 10 weeks or so, I guess.

Check out TrailRecon video on why he sold his 392. Sounds like if you're going to use this as a daily driver/hot rod with no tough 4 wheeling occasions, you may avoid most of the issues Brad experienced. Hopefully, you won't have any of these issues.

I think fuel starvation while climbing hills off-road was one of his top 3 reasons for selling. I don’t know if Jeep has addressed this issue on 392 equipped Wranglers.

Above video also illustrates how broken the configuration/order sites is for the Wrangler. Yet again, a Jeep "expert" no less, goes to the dealer, thinks they are ordering the Tow Package, but they are not.

There is the tow prep option that has the wiring connector. But you still need to check the aux switches/tow hitch for $95 in order to in fact have the tow package!!!! So even Brad and his dealer fell for it.

It's annoying because there are so many nice Rubicon X on the lots with missing tow hitch and switches, even though Jeep lists "Tow Package" or "Tow Prep" as included in the Rubicon X. $95. You think they'd include that on the $12K (now $10K) Rubicon X and 392.

This just shows lack of care by the Jeep Product Managers. Should be an intern's job to make the ordering process clear and easy on dealers and customers.

Jeep just does not care. They want to pump up huge volumes with completely seemly random collections of parts that make no sense.

The 392 has extended front bump stops. My use case is usually desert and forest trails and in open conditions that often resulted in some hard bump stop impacts. The solution was better shocks and a 2-1/2" lift kit - works great now. And then the tires looked too small, so 37's...
Just warning you... :)

I've had none of the TrailRecon issues but I am aware of them.

Ordered the tow package & got the tow package.

The 392 has the full time 4wd transfer case (4wd auto) which means I select part time 4wd as soon as I leave the asphalt. So far no problems with it. It works great when driving in mixed winter road conditions. If there is a T-case problem someday there are good options.

No fuel starvation issues on steep descents either but I am cognizant that it could happen. The Jeep fuel system uses a small reservoir in the fuel tank to provide fuel when in steep / low fuel conditions. My guess is that the reservoir gets sucked dry faster with the big V8. I carry extra fuel always when in the backcountry, but I also don't tempt the ticking 'steep descent fuel clock' by fiddling around with camera shots or admiring the views when descending.

So far 70k miles and nothing but good. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your new JL.

You will not be sorry you got the 392. I could never go back.

The Gray colors add 5 percent more horsepower by the way. Dyno proven.

Check on taxes and license fees when buying out of state. Surprised how many dealers don’t really get it right.

You just can’t beat the throaty exhaust note of a 392 V8 Wrangler. A big thumbs up to the engineering team for making the dual mode exhaust a standard feature on the 392.

IMO the only other SUV that comes close to that awesome huff-huff-huff V8 exhaust note is the Mercedes Benz AMG G 63 with standard side exhaust. But it starts at $195k before adding tasty options AND a $20-$30k dealer markup due to demand outstripping supply.

Sure you sign up for tread lightly like 2-4 months before you purchase so you can get 1000 off. It only costs 100

Tips? well, id buy the rubicon over the moob but thats me.

only other tip is, enjoy each trip to the gas station 😆
Why if I could ask would you pay the extra 20k for the Rubicon version? Based on everything I can find the biggest change is the bronze accents and the hood sticker. If I could get the Rubicon version for the same or very close cost I’d go that route but it is not realistic I'm guessing.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll probably sign up the day after I finish the order.
