The price drop on the 392 got me looking for another jeep. Ive always wanted one with the V8. Really want an upgrade from my '23 Rubicon which lacks the extras that were not available during the "covid" time. But Ive noticed a few people that owned jeep 392's that had mechanical issues I would say that were severe. I am trying to tell myself that if you google any vehicle about "issues" I would say every single one will have a bunch no matter what make. I would like to know if any actual owners have issues or is this about like any other vehicle would be expected to have. Thanks for feed back.

Well, anecdotal responses will be those with issues shout them, those without say little unless asked. You asked so not a single except a small self created issue, nor a single recall on my 21, how many recalls have other models had ? Ask the forum techs like alphawolff (you can flag him) and ask what’s the most reliable least problematic model and in their opinion currently the best. I know what will be said, but it’s hearsay from me. The weak point 4 auto TC got an upgrade in 24, you might inquire about it. … have you driven one ? If so, chances are you will want one. I enjoy and recommend, but it makes me smile and has spoiled me. 😊

The Moab probably hasn't been out long enough to see any issues. We got the first one on our local dealer's lot. It is our daily driver, so it accumulates the most miles of any of our Jeeps, but it still only has 3000 miles on it. No problems though.

We also have a 2022 392 that has 25,000 miles on it with no problems. Both are super fun to drive, one is stock, the other is not.

I had mine for only 6 months and had no issues. I did the transfer case and differential lube top offs though. From what I’ve seen the 392 Rubicon and MOAB are essentially the same w/different badging. The same suspension, same axles, same drivetrain, same lockers and ability to disconnect the sway bar. Based on that since the 392 Rubicon has been out for 6 or so years now, I think most issues would have been mitigated. Hopefully they’ve addressed the transfer case and differential lack of fluid issues. That would be my only concern but that’s easy to check. Just my $.02 worth.

Thanks, a lot of money on a vehicle I want to check off as much as I can.

I have to ask, have you tried to drive on a steep grade going down a hill with less than 1/2 tank gas just to test it out?

I think the issue is less than a 1/4 tank, but I have not tested that out.

There are only two problems with the 392 Wranglers.

- They use the shitastic clutch-based transfer case which relies on clutches even in low range and is notorious for over-heating and leaving you without four-wheel-drive at all when the going gets tough.

- They never pass a gas station.

No I didn’t. But I’ve seen some vids of folks having issues with that. I didn’t keep my 392 very long for a multitude of reasons; practicality, fuel usage and availability and other reasons. Silly me, I still check out local availability anyway, even though I can’t see myself actually investing in another one. But, big boy toys ya know kinda always has a hold. My 2.0 turbo overall checked off the boxes for me.

Well to be honest I really liked my Rubicon with recon package. I would have traded for a rubicon X for about the same I paid for my Rubicon 2023. But the bug got me with this 392. I didnt want that handing over my head every time I got in the X. So the 392 is in my garage now. Who knows how long Ill have the thing...

Congrats, I recommend getting a NoLimitz JL to disable MDS preventing the tarnish and deposits build up on the lifters with the oil shut off. In time creating Hemi Tick…. like after the warranty expires. Anyway it’s on off (but only when stopped) so the lifters aren’t constantly collapsing and un collapsing in town, but you can turn it off for long trips where it might actually save a little gas. I turned it on and left it on, gas is cheaper than lifters and cam work. Also, other features like speed limiters disabled, theft prevention, others. Oh yeah, your ears will thank you too, especially in Loud. šŸ‘šŸ‘

shit, i'd recommend it simply because the exhaust note change is annoying as hell going in/out of MDS

My 2026 MOAB 392 - 668 miles on the clock - just had a 4WD failure and is stuck on 4H. First time I used 4WD and the Serv4WD light came on. At the dealer now, had a TCC module replaced and did not make any difference. Awaiting now for the transfer case actuator to see if the solves the problem... If we slowly creep to a transfer case replacement, I'm gonna pursue a full car replacement. Sad state of affairs.
