And then reporting results here, lots of folks suggest x% off MSRP or Y% off invoice......

question:

Should I interpret this to mean “y% off invoice INCLUDING the destination charge”?

so, hypothetically

If the Invoice is $50,000 and the destination charge is $1495, and I get 3,000 off would folks consider this:

5.8% off invoice (3,000/51,495) or
6% off invoice (3,000/50,000)

Small percentage difference in this example but, hopefully my question is clear.

Someone will correct me if I’m wrong but the destination charge is usually in the total denominator as part of the MSRP/invoice number.

I am not sure if people include the dealership paperwork fees added after that number, but I usually did just to make sure I was comparing apples to apples between quotes.

When I negotiated off price yes destination is included. What’s not included is taxes, titles, and for the most part fees though some have said they got dealers to Lowe fees.

Just be careful. Lots of sketchy dealers re add the destination charge after they discount.

Then they try justifying it by telling you it's a flat charge and they can't do anything to discount it.

But when they quote you the n% off, it's always taken off of the full MSRP (which contains destination). So they are inflating the discount.

I have screen shots of text messages where they try justifying this.
