Looking to order my first wrangler. I have read about people receiving below invoicing pricing on new orders. My local dealer seemed to scoff at the idea when brought up and they refuse to give me a price on my build without coming in for an appointment. What’s the best way to approach a dealer about such deals or am I misunderstanding people on here stating they ordered for % below invoice. Are they strictly talking about employee discounts?im in south east michigan.

I'm Looking to order
4 door wrangler (JLJL74)
with the "Willys" package and 2.0 I4 turbo engine with the Auto trans (22W)
Black 3 Piece Hard Top (HT1)
Convenience Group (AJK)
Technology Group (AJY)
Mopar Plastic Door Sill Guards (CLP)
Anvil Color paint (PDS)

@Ratbert has a link in his signature that has a list of dealerships that will sell below invoice. Most of them will do out of state purchases you just have to go get it (or make arrangements) and bring it home.

Find one of his posts and click on the link for his speeadsheet.

Check out the recommended dealer list to see what’s near you. Most of us drive or fly to pick up our orders. I’m using a dealership 6 hours away so 12 hour drive round trip. 7% below invoice no questions asked is well worth it.

I live in metro detroit and wasted quite a bit of time with our local dealers trying to get a deal to no avail. They pretty much suck at giving deals around here. LaFontaine was best out of locals with a tiny discount if I went through costco program.

I ended up ordering our 2021 Wrangler from Rouen Jeep south of Toledo and ended up around 9 percent off msrp (was 7 percent but they price protected against an increase that occurred during build). They were a joy to work with and I would highly recommend them.

We purchased our 2023 Wrangler from Gupton as that seems to be the name you see the most for offering great deals. Gupton was even better than Rouen, which is saying a lot. Got 9 percent of the 2023 as well.

If you want to avoid working with our local jokers, do yourself a favor and work with one of the much better dealers identified on this forum.

My local dealers wouldn’t go under MSRP for my ‘23 Rubi XR. Got it from @Mitch@OurismanClarksville for 7% below invoice. Yes it’s 11 hrs away. Paid $900 to have it shipped to me. ?‍♂ Seems like a win!! My buddy also just ordered his ‘24 392 from him. Tell your local dealer to kick rocks lol
I'm in the same boat. My local dealer, whom I bought many vehicles from, won't compete with any below invoice pricing offered here. I also went with @Mitch@OurismanClarksville for below invoice pricing. I've heard some great things about deals with him so it was a no-brainer. So far my experience has been great. He's super responsive and very easy to work with. Looking forward to completing the deal with him when all is said and done. This will be my first time purchasing out of state and having to travel for pick-up, so it's a new experience but an exciting one.

I also went with Mitch but a 3 to 4 hr ride max for me. The shipping sounds temping. Can you tell me more? Was it done through Mitch or private? How much longer for delivery would you say?

EDIT:
BTW tell those dealers to go pound salt. I hate dealers not willing to bargain especially in the market right now where most if not all dealers are hurting to sell and have a ton of inventory. Pretty soon they will be begging for a sale.

Oh yea. Best experience I’ve ever had, with Mitch. I went over it here: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/recommended-dealers-list.1227/post-2321538
Wow that's an awesome read. Thank you for sharing! Our dealers will just miss out, their loss is our gain. How was your experience with shipping? It's something else I've considered, but I might have a trade-in and have no idea how that portion would work if shipped. I don't mind the drive honestly, because my family lives in PA and I go thru MD to get to them...so it's just an excuse to go visit. The only reason I would consider shipping is to cut down on initial miles as I'm likely leasing to buy.

In any event, love your ride. Hope you're having fun with it!

Was planning on making the drive but ended up shipping it. The dealer won’t do it. That’s understandable. Lots of risk there for them. So I filled out one of those forms online and got a bunch of quotes. Researched the companies and went with Fisher Shipping. Don’t believe the low ball quotes you get. They’re bait and switch. Jeep arrived on Sat 4/8. Started the paperwork and payment on Monday 4/10. Wired money on Tuesday. Finalized everything Wed or Thursday. Was picked up on Thursday and arrived to me Saturday morning. That was Maryland to Florida.
That's awesome. Glad it went smooth for ya and thanks for the details. Will certainly consider...

For sure! Yea I had a car to get rid of as well. Walked into the local dealer for that brand and sold it to them. Got more $$ for it then others were giving me too! Doing that a couple times now, I’ve found that the dealer of the brand of car that you’re looking to get rid of will give you more then another brand’s dealer. At least in my experiences ?‍♂
Oh nice! So you just did that separately leading up to the pick up? I guess they just cut you a check and you paid off a loan? I hadn't considered that. I've usually done everything in 1 stop for convenience. My trade in would be a Jeep as well so maybe Mitch will help out there so I can drive it up and swap. Of course, looking for the best deal. For fun, I shopped around the other day and got a couple of offers from Carmax, Cargurus, and Echopark. All were more than I owed on the loan so that's a plus.

Thanks! Oh yea. It’s great! My first Jeep and I love it. Did a few things to it already and much more to come :) Documenting it all on my YT. Link in sig if you want to see
I will definitely check that out! My YT channel is based on homebrewing so no Jeep coverage there.

Definitely shop around for selling your current Jeep. I did the same thing last year, sold Jeep to local dealer (used CarMax quote as leverage), flew to one of the good dealers (Mall of Georgia), drove the new Jeep home. Honestly, it was a little nerve-wracking, because it's impossible to know when your new Jeep will be built then delivered. We were down to one vehicle for around 2 weeks, which was a pain, but easily worth it to get great deals on selling and buying. If you have an extra vehicle, no big deal.

That's the thing that I worry about too, having a gap between cars. Agree it's worth it to be made whole.

I waited until mine was built, then sold the old one. The dealer was pretty confident that my new one would arrive within a month, so I pulled the trigger. I was also dealing with a decreasing used market at the time, which added more stress. I was definitely taking a chance, because lots can happen in the transportation phase. There were people waiting for months for delivery, hopefully those transportation issues have been fixed by now.

That's good advice. I appreciate it. With today's economy, makes for scary thoughts on what interest rates will be at delivery time. At least I know what my OTD price will be, but the MF, RV, any rebates are all unknown right now. I'm hoping that info gets released soon so we have a ballpark on those numbers.

Just ordered mine, did not need to come in, fone order fine, but I happened to be driving by so stopped in, GREAT people, no hard sell, not add-ons like the Scrotum Sac Shift coverfor $395 or lifetime air for your tires $700 (at other dealers).

My Jeep, JLR-X was MSRP $65,515 and my sales price was $58,885. That is 10.11% discount.
