I am assuming someone in this group has trimmed their rear fender like the pink in this image? What are you left with? Feels like the sheetmetal is doubled up down there. Can you expose those voids or does it just end up looking bad? Pictures would be greatly appreciated. I have searched but no luck finding a good image.
TIA

I didn’t need to do much trimming on mine. I only had to get into the bottom rivet… after I cut mine I filled the void in with JB Weld, and painted it with Mopar color matched paint…..then I painted the part of the fender under the flare black…Sorry I don’t have a better pic, it’s 6 years now and no issues….

I tried to black out the part under the flare to give you a visual, not great, best my fat finger can do on my phone, lol…

Thx, Exactly what I was looking for. Love the JB Weld idea.... May be one of my weekend projects.

I used JB Weld on mine too. I would shove a bunch in and let that dry and then kept doing that until it was filled up.

@Bearcrawl I did not need to trim anything to run 38x12.50's... I am still on factory rear arms but I also still have liners

Thanks, I have been known to be just a little OCD... :)

Also I did not use a filler like JB Weld as the factory did not (drainage?) and still had good spot welds just above.

Which rear bumper is that. I want one that wraps all the way around and yours looks great. Thanks.

Thanks! That is the MetalCloak full width rear modular bumper. I used the Rebel Off Road license plate bracket and switched out the gold MetalCloak bolts for black button-head to match the OEM steel front bumper. Much stronger, higher clearance and puts the trailer wiring up out of harms way-you don't see the plug in this picture but is in the bumper body to the left of the tire.

Thanks for the info. This is probably the one I’ll get once I smash my plastic.

@4x4Funlover I recognize that this thread is really focused on trimming sheet metal in the rear fender but I have a closely related question related to the rear fender liner rubbing/trimming; you mentioned that you are still on factory liners though your tire is stuffed in your picture.

Did you do trimming of the OEM liner? I just upgraded to 37s and have rubbing aside from extending bump stops which is obvious, I also want to avoid ripping the liner out at full compress.

I removed the lower rear part attached to the bumper(and the bumper shortly after) and heated the part above that with a heat gun and molded it around the pinch seam. I did not have to cut the liner at all. I think I have 2.5" of bumpstops added for my 3.5" lift

Cool. Thank you. I will do those things too. I recognize that these are obvious adjustments but I also don't want to just start cutting randomly and just stacking bump stop extensions when others like you have already broken the ground. Good news is that my pinch seam is already gone, trimmed that a few years ago already.
