Good point. I’m interested in changing wheels and running 35/12.5 on factory suspension, down the road adding 2.5 or 3.5 and running 37/12.5. Only want to buy wheels once.Technically the others that said "stock" are correct, but I don't think your question makes much sense. Backspacing dictates how far in or out of the wheel well your wheel sits. Lifts make the body of your vehicle sit higher. There's no conflict of space there.
The only time backspacing matters is when you increase tire size. Extra rubber is what creates rubbing problems on fender liners and steering stuff.
different lift brands recommended different wheel spacing for their lifts.Good point. I’m interested in changing wheels and running 35/12.5 on factory suspension, down the road adding 2.5 or 3.5 and running 37/12.5. Only want to buy wheels once.
This. From my personal purchasing research, Rock Krawler & Metal Cloak both call for 4.5” bs for the 2.5 & 3.5 lifts for 37”x12.5 tires - for example. I went with 17x9, 4.5bs for my 2.5” lift and have no rubbing on my control arms with 37s.Go with a 9" wide wheel with a 4.5" backspacing and you will be good for what you want to do in the future.
I’m in a rubiconCheck out https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ you can compare wheels and tire dimensions against what you have Stock, your stock wheels are 17x7.5 with a +44 offset for everything except 392's I believe.
Do you have a Sport or a Rubicon; it matters? Some times it boils down to preference if you want poke or not, a 12.50 wide tire will poke outside the fenders on a Rubicon with any offset less then about +10. As others said it also depends on the lift.
Method 701 17x9 with -12 offsetIs there a backaspacing that would work with stock as well as 2.5 OR 3.5 lift?
