Are you keeping them ? Performance, braking, and mpg will suffer with that much extra rotational mass. Forged wheels weren’t cheap, but my 8 1/2” wheel 35/12.50 AT3 combo is 80 lbs. Two less than the stock 7 1/2” BCD 285/70 KO2’s combo. Added bonus, no gate reinforcement needed.
Oh no, i don't have them, i've got methods. I just remembered and pulled that from his build thread. He already swapped to methods.

@shagles , That difference for 1/2” defies reason, that said, I wouldn’t run 48 lb wheels. I didn’t want the 31 lb wheels and went lighter. But kept them in case beadlock ever wanted.

nowhere near that much
Yup it blew my f'k'n mind when I did the math, part of the reason mine are for sale.

I had method 316s which are 2lbs lighter than my 703s, not that I really care at that point. I never had any issues with beads in my 316s, but bead grips for peace of mind. Methods are great and I recommend them to everyone ... except the people that want to buy my wheels :)

Half the update is done. New KO3’s installed on the OEM wheels. That alone is a nice upgrade from the Firestone MT tires it came with. Removed the Bora spacers too. So the next upgrade is choosing which Method wheel and backspace so I don’t need the spacers..

Just to add to the confusion of the XR wheel weight, here is my unofficial weight of ‘23 XR fake beadlocks when I had factory 315s. Typical cheap GE digital scale so its accuracy is unknown. The factory fake beadlocks are a bit piggish.

they get heavier when you make them NOT "fake beadlocks".

the hardware for beadlocking them is a good bit heavier than the hardware used for the beauty rings.

Curious if you mean just the attachment hardware? I have a stash of these since I grind them down offroad. 25 of the M8x1.25x30mm grade 9.8 Torx bolts for the fake beadlocks Is roughly 1 lb and 1/4oz. Even doubling that weight could only add roughly another pound per wheel to the real beadlocks. I wonder what the weight difference is between the two rings?

yes,

i don't know exactly what they weigh, but the bolts for the real beadlocks have to be longer, and have a standard head with more mass than the litttle button-head Torx bolts.

i'm also unsure how much difference there is between the rings, though the beadlock rings have to have a little more mass since they don't just lay flat on the wheel.

(FWIW, i expect my rings actually weight a tiny bit less than average because i had them etched and blasted before i mounted them to get them down to bare metal. it didn't make any sense to me to have paint on rings that i was going to rub against rocks, and weren't going to rust anyway.)

Which leads to the question. Why TF would anyone run them unless using the beadlock capability ? Especially when adding possible tire shop hassle for just the trim rings. (DT insisted on unnecessarily R&R’ing, to their credit at no extra charge). …. My 31 Lb 7.5” 44mm BCD’s replaced with 21 lb -1mm wheels.
80 less lbs rotational mass and unsprung weight over the XR’s. My 8.5” wheel 35/12.50 combo is 80 lbs, 2 less than the stock 7.5” BCD 285/70 KO2 combo…… added bonus, no gate reinforcement needed, my back’s 3 ruptured discs also appreciate it lifting the spare.

Oh I agree. I still have mine and I was going to do the AEV 2.5" dual sport lift and go with 37s on the same wheel for now. Mainly because my wife didn't want me to spend the money on new wheels at the same time. Now that I see the weight of these things, I'm gonna change them out for sure.

I am looking at the Vision Nemesis in gunmetal for my Sting-gray JLURXR. They are 17x9, -12mm with bead protection rings in plastic and changeable to different colors. The best part is that they are listed to weigh in at 24 lbs while still handling 2,400 lb load per wheel.

Here's a pic of the right color and right wheel, but wrong Jeep.

Very similar to my 8.5” -1mm T-AK2’s except no ring . They are beadgrip knurled

Forged aren’t cheap $2500, but iirc adding the reinforcement to my Alpha was $7-800 not needed. Also less rotational mass = better Mpg, performance, braking, brake and steering wear. ….. I memorized that for my wife. 😉 to not hear “Your High Dollar Jeep !“ 😁
