New JK unlimited owner and need help deciding between two possible wheel/tire & or lift build. I would like either 285/75/17s on 17x9.5 wheels with a 2.5” lift or 285/70/17 on 17x9.5 wheels with no lift. The tires are Cooper AT3 XLTs. This is my daily driver with light-medium off-road use.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
I'd post in the JK forum, JLs have a bit more room under the fenders and wider axles. Probably need a slight lift to run the 285/70s on a JK though.

Personally I would go narrower on the rim... assuming your going to some wheeling… this will protect it.. hard to help without knowing what you are trying to do..

The size difference you are comparing wont make much of a difference.. If you are going off-road, goes as big as your budget will allow... if your not going to lift, go big enough to make it rub at full stuff.. and if you are lifting, do the same...

You will be much happier going bigger vs not... unless your not taking it off-road and or your priority is gas mileage.

Good luck..

285/70s will be fine without a lift. I ran that on a JKU years back without issue. Wheels should have 4.5 back spacing.

The new rims have a -12 inset so I should be good. Thanks!
