What is this thing?

I just traded in my 2019 JL 2door Rubicon for a 2025 JL 2door Rubicon.

I noticed once I got home this big bit of plastic molding in the back seat on the drivers side. It wasn't there on the 2019.

Any idea what's under the plastic?

I thought that at first, but it's only on the drivers side. You'd think they'd put one on both sides if it were for comfort.

There’s gotta be a latch somewhere on that thing or you can pry it open somehow. My guess would just be storage?

I might have to resort to taking it off to see, but it's 14 degrees out ... I'm pretty sure it's not a good idea to be prying on plastic until it warms up

Thanks for the link. It looks like post 66 shows that there is absolutely nothing there. You gotta like taking away what is already a small space in the back, and filling it with nothing useful.

I can totally see where that would be a good hidey hole for border crossings

I rely on the ol' prison wallet for border crossongs... It limits me to two illegals, tho...
