So, in my three day old '24 Willys I see a loop of a wire bundle hanging left of the brake pedal. Snoop around and this module is there. It's connected to the OBD port and then has a pigtail with an OBD plug to the OEM OBD bracket--which is a poor fit and doesn't clip into place.

I'm wondering if this is a legitimate Jeep module, or something the dealer added.

Look at the label. I'm pretty sure that's a gps tracker that several around here have had and talked about. Seems usually it's for inventory control or theft protection for dealer. But could be for tracking vehicle for data or debt recovery if you have a loan and don't pay.

Went back for a closer look. The label has Guide Point printed on it. Found their website afterwards. Guess the dealer installed it without mentioning why.

First time ever seeing such a unit. Could be useful so long as it doesn't cause a problem with the vehicle.

There is a small loan, so if that's the reason for installing it, the loan can be paid quickly. Then the module gets removed.

Rip it out immediately. Total invasion of privacy beyond what the manufacturer is already doing. Go install it in a rental…😁

Whoever installed this on your Jeep didn't do a very good job if it was meant to be "unseen" lol

That said, I wonder if it was meant to be a tracker for vehicles on that sit on your dealer lot in case they are stolen.

Did you factory order yours, or buy it off the lot? Maybe they forgot to take it off during prep

Mine was already on the lot and yeah, I had considered it is the dealers business and someone forgot to remove it. Maybe I'll hear from someone about it.

wow that is a whole lot of wires for a simple gps tracker. heck they track me know without a tracker and kind of bugs me. I was messing around on the Jeep app and found it has tracked every single drive I have ever done. good thing I am boring....

Just remove it. They forgot to take it off.
Unless you bought it at a tote the note lot, it wasn't installed to track you.
