Recently I disconnected the aux battery, pulled F42, and removed one of the hood pin switches from its bracket in order to disable ESS. I wanted to make sure that the now always open switch wasn’t causing a current draw. It is not, but my draw is 74mA. That seemed to me excessive. I checked for voltage drop at the small fuses, all were zero except for F11 (UCI Port (USB & AUX)) which was 0.3mV. Pulling F11 dropped the parasitic draw from 74mA to 28mA. Can anyone tell me if this seems normal. Thanks.

wait for about an hour or so before measuring current draw.... I imagine that current draw varies per model... a basic Sport model won't have FOB keyless stuff or alarm.... 74ma is not horrendous, but perhaps a bit excessive... I remember measuring current draw on my basic Sport years ago... I will have to google it to see...

Here is a post where we talk about it more detail:

Thanks so much, you are absolutely right. It drops to 74mA after 15 minutes, and then it takes another 45 minuets or so to drop down to 20mA and 0mV across F11. Strange because it's not as if you can charge you phone for an hour after you turn off the jeep, but real relief in any case.

The shutdown process is about 30-60min depending on model (excluding 4xe) where a large portion of that can be UConnect/XM checking for or updating. There's a programmed sequence in the last two iterations (last 10 yrs-ish)of Wrangler that goes through a checklist of stuff like monitoring engine cool down, creating and storing the Health Report it creates that gets sent to owners that have the paid service, door lock check, etc. Besides that, there's a constant query for keyless entry, remote start, security system, etc.

Specification is under 45mA. Average is 14-35. Do be aware it can take up to an hour for that final bit to drop down.

This is because the radio enters a "low power" mode for faster boot up times. On a cold start it can take 8-15 seconds for it to start working. If you notice the next time you refuel, the radio is booted up and ready to go in a second or two after key on. That's that the lower power mode is for.

I sleep in my jeep regularly, so can attest that it does charge devices for an hour after shutdown
Thanks, that's good know.

That "feature" is a pain in the ass that requires workarounds when connecting wirelessly to pre-2024 Uconnect. It keeps trying to connect to your phone for about an hour after parking the Jeep. Yeah, those ports stay alive.
