For me, it’s not about hitting the hardest or most technical trails. It’s more about the people I’m with. When you’ve got good friends around, even the tough moments don’t feel that bad. Something breaks or goes wrong, and everyone just jumps in to help. We’re pretty good at turning those rough moments into jokes too. My buddy is an absolute joke king.

We also really enjoy the scenery along the way. That’s just as memorable. Being out there, surrounded by nature, just enjoying the moment, it helps you forget about a lot of everyday stress.

By the end of the day, you’re covered in dust and probably pretty tired, maybe even worn out. But you’ve got a new story to tell. That’s what a perfect off-road trip looks like to me. How about you?

The best trip is where you almost die, but don't. Almost roll, but don't. Almost break an axle or suspension part, but don't. Almost don't make it home, but do.

I agree with that too but usually I'm by myself.

So I rate a trip according to the places I go and what I get to see, the weather, lack of crowds, having enough to do during the day to fill the time between when I leave camp and when I find the next camp.

I'm traveling to see things not to look for difficult trails. I typically go places where there is limited access and that means at least rough dirt roads but may also mean some amount of real jeep trail. If there were paved roads there would be too many people.
