I couldn’t resist.

I’ve had steel cable winches on UTVs that had a Kong ball stop that I would just snug up to the rollers. This is my first synthetic line and this just seems destined to make noise:

Get something like the Factor 55 Prolink or Flatlink. They have a rubber surface on the back side so you can snug the link up to the fairlead. No rattles, holds the line under some tension, and you're not risking the hook moving around and scratching your bumper.

I use the Prolink for now, but thinking about going with the Flatlink in the future. Not a huge fan on how far the Prolink sticks out.

Unhook it from your d-ring and snug up the hook to the fairlead. Warn gives owners a red nylon strap to do this without risking getting your hand caught in the hook.

Why do people connect to the d-ring anyway?

Not without something to protect the metal on metal contact with the fairlead. It can develop burrs and cause rope damage.

Never thought of that. Wonder why Warn shows sucking the hook all the way in using their red strap. I’m running a Flatlink, so I should be good.

I really wish they would just leave the hook and loop thimble off. That way you can use a figure 8 type of attachment loop and change between implements easily.
