Going to be trading or selling our 2019 Sport S and looking at the Willy's 4xe models. Had no intention of even considering a 4xe until I drove one at the dealership yesterday. Wow! That power in hybrid mode was fun along with how quiet and responsive it was in electric mode. The Jeep also seemed to ride a bit better than our 2019, guessing the extra battery weight factored there.

Coming from an ICE 2019 Sport S -- What am I going to hate? Looks like I lose the under back seat storage space, any other storage I would lose? Most of our trips are short trips that are under our around 20 miles with a trip once a week that would be ~60 miles. From reading it appears that longer trip may help avoid the dreaded FORM? What are some other common complaints or "I really miss..." that I might not be thinking of at the moment?

Also debating leasing as well to take advantage of the $7500 tax credit. What are some good sites/resources to help me get smart on leasing so I don't get bent over going that route?

The frequent dealership visits.
That’s not all of us. In 22,000 miles mine has only been to the dealership 4 times; 3 for the free oil changes and 1 for the ECH which is highly common. Now that my free oil changes are done, it’s not going back to the dealership unless there is something wrong.

OP, there are a lot of haters amongst 4xe. I suspected most either don’t own one or are Karen’s.

I recommend getting a level 2 charger. My driving habits are similar to yours. There are days that I make multiple short trips and will end up charging 2 to 3 times. I typically average 1100 miles per fill up. My biggest complaint is the gas tank is so small. When I fill up it’s usually only 13 gallons; I don’t let it run on fumes. However, to average 1100 miles on 13 gallons, that’s pretty damn good!

Leasehackr for leasing info/calculator. The 4xe forum tends to post the money factor sheet, and residuals are available on the Edmund’s forum.

You can order and lease just like if you were buying. Check out Ratberts list of discount dealers.

Looks like you're in OH- might be in FORM a bit in winter but you'll be set for enjoyable power and MPGe's the other 9 months. Mine has been trouble free thru 15,000 miles. As evo said, the gas tank is small so it might suck on road trips- frequent fill ups- but we have another SUV for that. My advice is lease it, get the tax credit and you can always buy it out at the end. I have ZERO regrets with mine.

What are some of the reasons you wouldn't buy again?

My main reason the Jeep 4xe is so technical so many things that can go wrong. The gas Wrangler does not have as many. And with the amount of people that have had problems. And the dealers really are at a loss to fix the 4xes. Not all are having problems. Some r really satisfied with there 4xe. I had problems most of mine were evap related nothing to do with the battery part. 8weeks in the shop and no fix. Two different dealers was enough. So I traded got a new 23 3.6. Very satisfied.

If you’re willing to be a beta tester, be my guest.

I bought one. Won’t buy another. Stick to the gas engine.
Unfortunately, I've had to lemon law a vehicle before. It did work out in my favor both financially and the amount of education I gained from the experience. You are a patient person! This one would've been lemon'd based on those visits. I can only imagine how infuriated you were with this!

I've noticed there seems to be a divide between loving the 4xe and absolute hatred! Nobody seems to be in between.
Try the Tacoma forums with the new fourth gen truck that came out, yikes!!

If they are anything like the random Facebook comments and Reddit threads I see on the Taco; I can only imagine!

The 4xe is just another example of don't buy a vehicle its first model year. Mines been good so far but it was a late '21. I'd say just make sure whichever dealership you get yours from is big enough that they regularly deal with 4xes that way if an issue does come up, you probably aren't the first one they've seen with it.
