I am a retired IFBB pro Bodybuider so I still have strenght on me and the thing wouldn’t move at all I didn’t want to break !!!!! How har is it? Can I just pull the sh#%t out of it without break it?
Thank you :)

if you want 4L your transmission need to be in Neutral first.

Shifting between 2H and 4H just use more strength, I say put 30lb of force on it when new., you can shift while going forward even.

you can engage 4H for a few minutes if you are driving straight to break-in the transfer case. mine shift butter smooth after 3 month of use.

Understood. So it will get smooth as time past? Back in Brasil I would bring my card to the shot so they can fix the clutch because I never like when is to high but back in the day use to be a cable now I am not sure if still the same that’s why I was afraid to push to hard and brake a cable if there’s one. Does that make sense? I appreciate your reply

No, don't break it. Move the Jeep a little and put it in neutral and try. When torque is applied through the transfer case it is harder to disengage the dogs. They will also not engage unless they are "lined up". Patience is key..
It might help to put it in park on the level and rock the jeep forward and reverse while shifting the xfr case.

honestly it would move long before the linkage breaks, I have not heard of cable breaking. Take advice from JJMalone too, perhaps move the jeep around a little, and you do need to shift firm and hard the first time.

Olá, e bem-vindo ao fórum! Enquanto dirige a 35 milhas por hora, pratique a mudança de 2H para 4H. Seja firme com a alavanca; boa sorte!

Just one question can you translate “dogs” I am sure you’re not talking about the pet

Pretty sure he meant "cogs"...as in the cogs on the gears.

Simply put the transfer case isn't synchronized like the transmission is. So when you're sitting still it is way harder to shift into four-wheel drive than it is if you're moving. I found that moving just a couple of miles an hour makes it slip right in. Same deal with four low you don't actually want to be sitting still to shift into four low you want to be moving one to three miles an hour and it'll go right in. It gets easier the more times you do it.

It looks like Jane has a 6speed manual transmission Willys so there's no putting it in "Park". With the MT, does it need to be in neutral to move from 2H to 4H or can it be in gear moving slowly?

Mine was very very stiff at first. So hard to shift I actually thought something might break! After a few thousand miles and several ventures in 4x4, it now shifts smooth as butter.

So basically, that's normal and it will smooth out over time.
