Just an FYI. I took my 18 JLUR into the Dealer 1/28/19 and had them follow the TSB to update my 8.4 uConnect to add the Off Road Pages. They worked great until this past Monday the day after my Guardian services expired and a new icon appeared saying "activate Guardian services" I emailed uConnect customer care asking if you had to have the Guardian services to have the ORP. Here is the email response I got.

Thank you for contacting Customer Care.

We are disappointed to learn of your concern with the Off Road Pages regarding your Wrangler Unlimited and I would like to assure you that I will do everything I can to assist you.

I have looked into the Off Road Pages further and have determined you are correct, you do need an active subscription with Sirius Guardian in order to be able to utilize that feature.
If you would like to resubscribe to Sirius Guardian you can do so by calling them at 844-796-4827

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance by replying to this email or calling us at 877-IAMJEEP (877-426-5337)

Thank you again for your email Gregory. Have a great day.

Best wishes,
Jocelyn
Jeep Customer Care.

I see no reason that the ORP should be tied to a $19.95 per month SiriusXM Guardian services subscription.

Sounds like a reason for a class action lawsuit. We were told we would have offroad pages with no talk about it requiring a subscription. The remainder of the "guardian" services clearly state they are in a trial period and require a subscription after that.

EDIT: just to be sure this isn't missed, later in this thread @JeepCares has indicated that there is no requirement to remain subscribed to use the off-road pages. I will leave my post up because I believe it is still valid IF the pages are taken away without a subscription, but that does not appear to be the case.

There is zero mention of that on their site. Guardian's functionality doesn't even apply to anything ORP does. ORP only shows the status of existing onboard systems -- should not require any functionality from GPS.

It does display your coordinates and altitude at the bottom of the screen. That may use Guardians location services.

Nice find, missed that.

But doesn't the in-dash GPS system do that without a subscription? If so, shame on them for tying this to something like Guardian. If not, guess we're all hosed.

I think everything on the ORP's are available paging thru. The "pages" just put it all together I think. I guess I'll find out, my 2018 JLUS trial sub runs out next week, we'll see if ORP sticks around. Sounds kinda loony if you have to subscribe for a minimum of 20 bucks to get something you were supposed to get in the beginning????

Go Jeep!!!

GPS provides all that information, there is no subscription required, just a receiver. It's calculated via analysis of signals from multiple satellites to include timing.

That's the way it should calculate it. But I'm thinking it uses Guardians location services instead. Have you noticed when you first start your JL that it just has a U icon and it takes a minute or so before it changes to the ORP icon. If you tap the icon before it changes from the U to the ORP icon nothing happens. It appears it downloads something or verifies your subscription before it gives you access the ORP.

Asked in similar thread, but does that mean you cant utilize cell phone remote start app either? I had to utilize guardian and UConnect to get that feature. Im selling the damn thing if they f*ck that up.

I just replied to your question on the other thread also. Yes you lose the remote command screen on the smartphone app. The only screen you'll have access to is the vehicle info screen.

That's the problem, Jeep is doing some server-side validation of the right to run ORP.

In the 6 months that I had my Jeep, the ORP page has always worked but it never displayed the coordinates nor the altitude... why would I need to pay for Coordinates and altitude info that has never worked !!!
