In what way? Address quality issues such as steering?
Not necessarily.... The steering issues have fixes that were implemented last month.. .. Will probably take time for the dealer to get parts in stock.... And issues as in it takes alot of steps to build a vehicle.... So with it being a new engine they have to figure out where job stations are going where and doing what in the plant... There is probably about 700 different job stations in just the assembly part of the plant they need to reconfigure in order to build the diesel... There is minor qc things they are fine tuning as well since the 3.0l is still in "pilot" wire harness lengths, routing, different software needs to be implemented to test the vehicle... Ect ect nothing serious and nothing to really worry about

I would say the labor dynamics at play in US manufacturing is a key reason we see so many QC issues with Jeeps. Not to say they are bad, just QC issues. Like bolts not tightened, welds not checked, connectors not snapped shut all the way and even fuses not plugged in all the way.
It's the whole "us vs them" thing. Management vs the workers. It's a constant war.
Management, narrowmindedly focused on the next quarter's profits and so cutting all the corners they can for both the labor side of things and the engineering / parts side of things.
Even trying to additional revenue streams. You know those little Easter eggs y'all love so much? You think that is because Jeeps is letting the engineers have some fun? Of course not. It's because those little Jeeps are trademarked. Which means they can only be made by a third party if they are licenced.
You want the little Jeeps, so you buy OEM which just happens to cost more and adds another stream of revenue.
Meanwhile the workers are super pissed off and fighting back how they can. At the end of the day, when you combine this war mentality, angry workers and cutting corners, this is not the recipe for high quality.
I know there are a lot of anti-union folks out there, but it may pay to brush up on your history in that case. Not having unions is how you get things like "the company store" and being paid in company store credit.
A quarterly profit focused company will try and f&ck who ever they think they can get away if it means bumping those numbers.
Good post. I'm a union member but pretty disgusted by them. I read their news letters and sounds like I'm reading communist propaganda. Pretty disturbing.

We all get the same pay, despite some real differences in work ethic and ability. Still it's hard to deny some of the bennys. Our lower management get treated like total crap by upper management. They cant F us (as much) so they F them because they can.

This (and other factors) all leads to the kind of mindset that doesnt breed loyalty and this shows in the quality of the product. IF you had good management you wouldn't need unions. Also if you had great workers you wouldnt necessarily need unions either. I think generally both sides just suck and it's designed that way, here in the US anyway. It's a culture thing.

A friend of mine had a factory that built stainless steel connectors for circuit boards in California. He had all sorts of mandated safety, environment, employee union issues, and more to deal with. His competition moved to china, he didnt want to go but was forced to. According to him it's the best thing to happen to him. All he has to do is concentrate on product and he has to kick his employees out the building because they will drop before they stop working. After they reach quota he pays big money. They ALL reach quota easily.

Im not going to give you a yes or no answer because everything is rumors at this point and nothing is 100%, but i wouldn't bank on a 3.6 bsg for a long while
Thanks, only reason I'm waiting for a 2020 was the 3.6 BSG, if likely not happening I may go with a 19

Updates regarding what? Yes they are running desiels here and there for test purposes.... I wouldn't get hopes up for a 3.6l bsg.... Hybrids will be in pilot phase soon... Plant is idle for 3 weeks starting Monday
Curious if vehicles has been made, but is currently "JB: Vendor Add on items status" does that mean it just sits for 3 weeks like everything else?

Thank you.

For those that are curious.
JT cycle time is around 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
JL around 53 seconds

So my salesperson at the dealer (when I asked about the shutdown) replied w/ this:

""I was able to speak to the owner today and he said that the plants do this 2-3 times a year in order to “re-tool” and it has no effect on factory builds..

I checked the status today on it and it seems to be flowing through perfectly, right now it is in “D” status and that means that it has been scheduled. Once it moves out of “D” status I will be able to click on the status and it will be a lot more detailed""

IS HE CORRECT ABOUT HAVING NO EFFECT ON FACTORY BUILDS OR IS HE LYING TO ME???

If the plant is on shut down, nothing's being built. The line is literally shut down. As stated in the letter above, the workers do not need to be there between May 13 to June 3.

If they want to be pedantic about it, it doesn't effect factory builds because there are no builds scheduled during the shut down...

The 3rd party should be still working so the vehicle in jb should be about ready to go

And production is the only thing shut down for 3 weeks.... We are still shipping cars that are already built off the line.... If your car isnt in "g" status it should be on its way out of the plant in these 3 weeks
