I wanted to order a new Jeep and I had held off waiting to see what happened with the strike and everything. With all the uncertainty and the risk of even more price increases and an increased wait time, I found a 2019 Sahara in HellaYella I really liked and bought it.

it doesn’t have the big screen like the ‘24s, but it was also a lot cheaper and available. It’s in my driveway now and I am really happy with it.

if you are in a rush or tired of waiting consider a used one.

just my 2 cents.

No wonder all of California is moving here. Reg unleaded is about $2.90 a gallon right now.
You're in California, mate. Things are different in the other 49. ;)
Texas doesn’t like me. I was there in 1970 getting washed and blown off my feet- got inside when it got dead calm. Then a big black tornado got me in it’s sights, was about to dive into the no window bathroom when it made a 90 degree right turn. GTFO Warning accepted- haven’t been back. I wish Texas liked me, I liked it— otherwise ?

South of Austin and the tornadoes are less frequent and much smaller.

And as far as those CA gas prices, the difference you see between the middle of the country and CA is all taxes, not the oil companies.

Recall this quote (or very close paraphrase) from 2 HMFIC’s ago .We’re not going to ban it— we’ll make it so expensive no one will want to use it . Ca was listening and took notes….. My problem with Texas is the same one I have with Idaho another of my top tier relocation destinations. Too damn many Californians are moving there ! … I want to get away from them , not move to still be surrounded. ? (Idaho, especially the Cordelane area add Seattle pilgrims) …………. . I would likely be shunned by the Texacans or Idohoans as another one of Them anyway ?

There are too many here for you to be shunned. They would just want you to join their community organizing committee to start up all the shit that caused them to leave in the first place.

Na, come on down. If you have the attitude and demeanor of interior CA, that western rural attitude, you’ll be fine.

There are a lot of similarities in how the two states developed, it’s the post WWII dreamland, and the fall out of the mass migration there that ruined it all. Maybe TX and CA will be alike in that aspect too. Let’s hope not.

I remember when I was in high school, half the kids wanted to go live there. They thought it was just like the TV shows, that everything was perfect and fun and all the people were pretty. Some went and stayed, some came back disillusioned. But the same can be said for anyplace. But Texas hasn’t seen this much interest since Dallas was on TV and Gilley’s was the place to go.

It’s a big place though, and I can always move to make room for more refugees. Not only do we have big metro areas, we have some wide open spaces. It’s just all privately owned and fenced.

From one GRUMP to another, I can relate. I moved to Colorado from Chicago. Too damn many Californians moving here, and Texan’s trying to get away from the Californians. I immediately told my neighbors that I AM NOT ONE OF THEM!!! Unlike those people, I take care of business. They understood and I was accepted right away. The fact that I was driving a Challenger, and not a Prius or a Tesla, was a plus. Your Jeep will have the same effect.?

Perhaps there is hope, the reassurance is appreciated ? I haven’t researched Co. due to the slow but constant left turn I see. Have Wy and Mt but really don’t want to be more than a one day drive from kids and grandkids. Sux . ?

If it was the 50’s and 60’s it was largely true. Threw the guns in the 3A and went to school (locked in friends car there), vast hunting access just outside town. Now everything is closed and posted even the places everyone target shot at (lead pollution excuse). Had a car that achieved lift off at 170mph still accelerating, built a 700 HP Willys Jeep. Now I can’t even get a tune, hell, can’t even install a different tube with an air cleaner on the end unless CARB approved, did Not want auto-park added to my GC- Ca wouldn’t register it until the Safety Recall was done, I have lived the Golden State turn to a lead weight on it’s residents. Don’t know what’s happened to Texas since 1970 but I do know the differences in those areas are still largely like it was here back then. BTW— congratulations on no state income tax, ours are confiscatory.

They get is on property taxes, school taxes being the biggest chunk. It’s for the damn high school football stadiums that rival NCAA facilities. These parents go crazy for it. Normally conservative people who will vote our money away so their boy can play in a fancy stadium for a few years.

The rural area where I live is being bulldozed and stuffed with houses. A decade or more ago, they would have contoured the plots to the terrain. Now they use heavy equipment to flatten limestone hills, or remove them altogether, so that more houses can be crammed in.

Sad to see the big ranches around here being sold to carpet bagger property developers with truckloads of cash that is hard to say no to. They soak up the money from the sales of mediocre, or worse, quality houses. A decade ago, everyone wanted a luxury house, now they want any house. Previously plotted subdivisions that were on say 1/3-1/2 acts lots, were redrawn, and approved locally, for .20-.25 acre lots.

It's hard to believe the congestion all these newcomers bring. Nearly none of them are from here or around here. It’s to the point where people react to seeing a man wearing a cowboy hat as if he walked in to a place brandishing a rifle. I kinda get a kick out of it.

At least no one talks about carbon footprints here. You will get no foul looks for driving a Jeep or pickup. Teslas here are new money status symbols, and you will rarely see another make of EV on the road.

How will the strike affect is here? Toyota will sell more Tundras, they’re made here after all. Jeeps have always been popular here, used prices are still very strong, and will only get stronger as a availability of new inventory drops. If this drags out, and used prices move up, I’ll sell mine and buy an older Wrangler or CJ in excellent condition. I don’t drive mine enough for it to make a difference to me. I have a pickup, a motorcycle and my wife has a Wagoneer with a 5.7.

You’re heading down the primrose path, just getting a late start. ~30 years ago after my uncle was hit and killed by a drunk driver on his ranch driveway ( accident on private property- drunk not charged) my aunt sold the show horse, cattle ranch and horse trailer sales. Grabbed the $3.5M development corp offer and ran (~$2.4M after taxes, the state and feds got their cut) a business complex where I used to hunt and fish in the 2 ponds on a very large creek until the state piped the creek a couple years earlier drying up the ponds/ wetland full of game birds and the irrigation well went dry- no more pasture/ cattle. They had some kind of rights to do it because the creek bordered it. Mighty coincidental timing, tin foil hat conspiracy time? ……. At least you can get any CJ and make it run without dealing with passing a smog test and checks on a newer than 75 , and 71 was the last both short 5 and smog free year. The best stock CJ was the V6 5 with the same HP as the AMC V8 “super Jeep” but shorter, lighter, much more efficient , and performance upgrades (were anyway) available for the Buick V6. …………… Here we have up front EV only parking………With No F’ing Charging Station ! ?
