On long road trips with my 23 JLUR4xe, on hot days or in mountains, sometimes it feels like the heat is on just the drivers feet. The radio and that area are also hot. The dash says the water/oil are around 210.

Is my heater malfunctioning or do I need more firewall insulation? Anyone else have this?

This is normal, and yes it is stupid. It's the HVAC doing stupid things.

I have noticed the heat as well unless I have the AC on. In GA where we are roasting most of the year this is an inconvenience. I have found that turning the recirc on helps. I also have found that it is related to vehicle speed. Somewhat disappointing with the newest and one of the most expensive units in the heard.

Have you tried playing around with the vent settings? Sometimes redirecting airflow can help, at least it did in my old car. Might be worth a shot.

Ya, as soon as I turned on the air and it blew hot air on my wife’s side too she started hollering and turned it off. Evidently it’s better that only one of us roast.

Yet another wonderful “feature”. A poor consumer just looks at it and says “Why?”.
