Hello all, and @JeepCares

I have the 8.4 uConnect NAV in my 2018 JL and I've been having intermittent problems with it over the past few months. First issue ; I've had 2 freezes that have resolved on their own over the course of 10 minutes and it rebooting itself..

Second issue; While listening to the FM/AM/SXM/AUX Input or Bluetooth music the audio will constantly cut out every 5-6 seconds. This will happen intermittently, by itself with no causes that make it occur. I've tried letting it sit while off, but the only thing I've found that works is pulling the 20Amp radio fuse(I think F97) and letting it sit for 30 seconds, then putting it back in. The uConnect will reboot in a basic no feature mode(no nav, no SXM) after starting the Jeep.. Then I need to shut the Jeep off again, open the door so the radio turns off, then restart again. The uConnect will then have all of it's features, and I need to reset the theme, however all other presets are ok..

Third issue; Pretty much the same as the second with the same solution, except instead of it cutting out there is constant white noise mixed in with the music.
I should also note that during both situations, the only time each issue occurs it's not present while making a phone call..

I tried going to the stealer and talking to their parts changer, but their pre programmed "Could not replicate"statement is presented to me, which is no surprise.

Has anyone had a similar issue, and if so what was the solution? Thanks for all the help..

Did you hit the mute button by chance?

This is a well-known issue... there's a recent post out there where an owner was told this would be resolved/fixed with an upcoming software update in April. Hopefully this holds true.

Here's one of a few: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...-cutting-in-and-out.16947/page-16#post-569942

Thank you for the help, and I am following that thread now. I knew it was something that I wouldn't get too much help on until they sort it all out.... There is still just something about an older vehicle with none of this crap in it to go wrong..

Luckily this hasn't happened to mine until now. It does happen all the time in my VW Passat though. Sometimes the screen also goes off but the sound works. Sometimes the satnav only wants to go to Poland. Hey...German car;

It may be interesting for people to know that almost no manufacturer actually makes their own infotainment system. Companies like Harmon and various others produce them and then integrate them into the vehicle.

Itā€™s a UConnect issue. I have the 8.4ā€ in my Challenger and had all these same issues. Freezing, wouldnā€™t turn off when the car was turned off, blank screens, wouldnā€™t reset, wouldnā€™t connect when plugging in my phone.

Itā€™s been better the last few months after some updates, but it has never been as good as the Sync system in our Ford Raptor. I hope they eventually get the bugs out since I pick up my JLUR on 3/6

I have the 8.4Nav in my RAM 2500 and it's been fine for a few years now. It does have the older not as touch sensitive screen though, whereas the JL has upgraded graphics and operates more smoothly, when it's working anyway.. :whew:

Funny, SYNC system is the main reason we could not wait to dump our Ford Explorer. Iā€™ve had a couple of issues with the 8.4ā€ UConnect, but itā€™s by far more responsive and useful than the SYNC. Granted the Explorer was a 2014, so itā€™s probably gotten substantially better.

Guess itā€™s all about the luck of the draw then. Our 13 Raptor was good with the exception of the voice stuff. Damn nav never understood me. Our new 18 Raptor has been great so far, the voice commands seem to work better.

My Challenger is a 17. For the first year it was issue after issue. Took it to the dealer and they pushed some updates to it and did some other work and it has been better. Was still getting some freezing but not as bad as it was. Challenger is being sold in a few days anyway so I can go pick up my JLUR

8.4 Uconnect constantly freezes. Could replicate issue until I decided to record videos with my phone every time it happens. Dealer said they were ordering replacement. Weā€™ll see. Again, quality control in these vehicles is close to none.
