Uconnect CarPlay wrong location

We've been using it all week on vacation and haven't had any issues. I think whatever they did during the recall fixed it.

I got mine fixed, but I had to get escalated to a special case manager with Chrysler first. They organized to drop our car off at the dealer and the special Chrysler STAR team was on the phone with the dealer's repair techs and provided a software update to the uConnect system. After the update was applied, everything has been working fine.

Also, we brought it in for the cruise control update and that did not fix it for us, we had to get the STAR team involved to get the fix.

@JeepCares do you guys have an actual resolution for this yet? I checked the uConnect support site to see if there were any flash updates but there are none. So what's the deal?

i've got the same thing going on with my system. the maps are fine if not plugged into the UConnect system. once i plug in, both Waze and Apple Maps shows i'm in another state. i've noticed the compass seems to lose its location and winds up searching frequently. it's definitely a UConnect issue.

i've tried clearing the settings and information in the Uconnect unit. still no luck and now the compass is completely wrong. lovely.

I'm having the same issue a number of other people have mentioned. When I plug in Apple Carplay it shows I am in a location about 400 miles away. When I disconnect my phone from the Uconnect system my phone displays my correct location. I have tried multiple devices/cables and all do the same exact thing. Actually puts me in the Atlantic ocean somewhere. Additionally the blue tooth disconnects very often. Is there a known fix for this? I noticed some of the Uconnect units are set for recall.

Good news is with iOS 12 Apple will open 3rd party apps to be used with CarPlay. Ex. Waze and Google Maps.

Has your problem been fixed? I just started having this problem while on vacation. Every time I would put in an address it would change my current location to my work address. If the phone is not plugged in to the CarPlay it works fine but the minute I plug it in it changes my location back to my work location which was about 300+ miles away from where I was. I even used my daughter’s phone which has never been at my work location and even with her phone as soon as it was plugged in it changed the current location to my work. I tried the AppleMaps App, Google Maps, and Waze and every app did the same thing. I have not contacted the dealership yet because it seemed like such a weird thing. I decided to google it and found this forum.

I have have this reoccuring problem for the 11 months I have owned my JL. A reset will mask the problem but it will do it again the next time I take a long trip. My jeep is scheduled to go into the dealer tomorrow and @JeepCares has helped me with getting a Star case started on it. If you are having this problem please PM jeepcares on this forum and let them know.

I will post what happens to mine.

My jeep was built 12/18/17 and I feel lucky that I’m not having the major mechanical and structural issues that later builds are having.

Still having this issue on mine sporadically. Plug in various iPhones and the location changes on the phone. Unplug the phone from the Jeep and the location on the phone returns to current location.

My problem has been fixed and it required my entire stereo to be replaced.
