Two months ago is when this happened to me and the dealer did a hard reset. It fixed the problem and has worked perfectly since then.
Same issue for me, stuck in Toledo....

What's involved in the hard reset? Is it something I can do on my own or does the dealer have to do it?

Thanks.

I went into Settings. First tried clearing personal data with no luck. Then used the other setting, something about defaults or reset or something and now it works.

You can do it yourself. Somwhere else here in the forum someone explained the steps. It may even be in the manual.

I too have this issue, annoying. Mine happens every day I leave work. It shows my at my favorite biking spot instead of at work. Frustrating because I’d like to be able to choose best route home, avoiding traffic. It finally corrects after I’m driving for a bit.

**EDIT: Guess I hadn't used maps in a week or so for going to work but looks like it is the incorrect location when leaving my home as well.

***UPDATE***
A couple weeks ago I had my JLUR in for service and while there I called 'Freddy', the agent assigned to my case at UConnect and left him a message stating I was leaving my vehicle for service and asked if he could contact me or the service department in hope that we could get the UConnect Maps issue resolved while the vehicle was in for service. I did not receive a call back nor did the service department. I followed up with another email to Freddy asking if he was still assigned my case and if we could try to get this resolved.
His reply:
"I am. I've actually been trying to reach you by phone but I haven't had much success for whatever reason. I wanted to tell you, the issue you are having with Apple Carplay and the vehicle, we've found out it is a known Apple issue, not the radio itself, it is also happening with Android Auto as well. I would suggest at this time, reaching out to Apple and seeing what they can do to assist with this concern here."

He has not tried contacting me because I have not received a single call from him since before I called and left a message for him. I emailed back explaining that I do not believe this is an Apple issue because UConnect Maps with my iPhone works fine in our other vehicle.
His reply:
"Yes, that is true, but from what we have tested, the radio has not displayed this to be a problem with itself, and according to our research this is an apple concern for sure."

I am at a loss here and starting to become even more frustrated. This past weekend we were 40+ miles away from home and my wife hooked her iPhone up to the Jeep's UConnect system (one of only a few times ever) and guess what?? Maps put her location at the same park that it incorrectly puts me at when my iPhone is connected. My wife has never used her iPhone to navigate to that park so PLEASE someone tell me how this is an 'Apple issue'? What...did her iPhone just pick that up through NFC with my iPhone?

As a side issue, I also experimented with putting mp3's on a FAT32 formatted USB thumb drive over the weekend. UConnect would NOT load either of the 2 thumb drives I tried.

I'd really love to have these issues resolved1

Did the Hard Reset resolve this for some people? Looking for options here.

The hard reset performed by the dealer fixed mine. The one suggested by jeepcares did not work. Additionally, it’s been confirmed that the 7” unit does have a gps and it uses that signal when plugged into car play not the phones.

We're glad you've brought this to our attention. We would like to look into this further and see if there is any opportunity to assist. Please follow up with us in private messages with your VIN so we can get started.

I'm having the exact same issue. Apple maps always says I'm at a Target Store about 5 miles from home. It could be a 100 miles from that point but the navigation will always start there.

Here's the odd thing. If I use Apple Maps without Carplay (totally disconnected from uConnect) the problem goes away.

Here's the even odder thing. The exact same problem happens on Waze and Google Maps. It only happens when my iPhone 7+ is plugged into the uConnect. This scenario can get even weirder. Lets say that Waze is open and my iPhone is disconnected. Waze will show the correct location. However the moment I plug it in, let Carplay launch, then go back to the Waze app, the location will change to that exact same Target store.

I've always had a low opinion of Apple Maps but now I'm thinking Carplay sucks ass too. Frankly, to me, iOS 12 (which will support Waze and Google Maps) is the last chance for Apple. I'm moving to Android if they don't greatly improve the usability of CarPlay.

It really seems like the GPS in the Jeep is just really slow to acquire a GPS lock and in the absence of a lock, it defaults to some other location. For me it is home, others have said dealer or other.

Once it acquires a lock it works great.

I rent cars a lot when I travel for work and have used CarPlay in a bunch of different cars and none have had this issue. It seems to be a Jeep specific thing.

I have an appointment with the deal on Monday and will ask them to do a hard reset. I’ll report back and let you know if it works.

I have contacted Apple thinking it was my wife's phone and then after she returned from a trip I tested it with mine and the same issue. The compass being 180 degrees off and the time set by GPS in CST when suppose to be EST is not an Apple issue. That is with no phone plugged in. My JeepCares rep contacted my dealership to request a hard reset. I took it in yesterday and was told I had to leave it for more testing with Chrysler and possible order a new system specifically made for my VIN #. I will update with the results.

Good news is with iOS 12 Apple will open 3rd party apps to be used with CarPlay. Ex. Waze and Google Maps.

Is there a fix? My JL does it too. When I’m not home it detects my location as home for the first 5 minutes of the drive.

*****Update***** Day 6 without my Jeep. Waiting on Chrysler to get back to the dealership with any more tests they want to run before replacing the uconnect system. I really hope this is the actual fix to this issue.

Having the same issue with my Jeep JL sport. Can't tell if there has been any fixes/resolution yet? was initially working and now it is not. It works if my phone is not plugged in to car play and messes up the compass too.
