I just got my 4xe a week ago and it’s my first jeep. The uconnect is maddening how bad it is, especially for charging, I have no clue why it doesn’t auto refresh but it doesn’t and if you force refresh it it always fails, so it’s basically pointless when I leave my car to charge and try to check it’s percentage.

Same here. It tells me that is charging while the car is fully charged. I can not wait to install my level 2 charger for more reliable information.

Is there any alternative? Like flashing a different ROM or some such? I'd prefer to use something else as well -- perhaps Android Auto based -- and just share the data connection from my phone.

UPDATE: looks like the answer to my question is 'no' (at present). It appears that iDatalink Maestro shows the most promise in terms of retaining some of the original vehicle features and informational displays (tire pressure, etc.), but nothing yet for late model Jeeps. ☹
