Just so others can reference as I appear to not be the only one with this issue...

Was at the dealer for 3-weeks while they diagnosed and submitted a claim to FCA. At first were going to replace transmission but after teardown decided could be repaired. Once part was received it was repaired in 2x days which included test drive. I have since driven it for 1-week and there is zero play in reverse and all gears shift as new, smooth and crisp! Made sure 4hi/lo engages correctly too. Going to take it on some light trails next weekend for piece of mind as we have a camping trip coming up. I attached the receipt/invoice for reference. Hope this helps someone?! I was 2mo away from being out of warranty (5yr/60Kmi)!

Symptoms
-severe clunk into reverse with drive shaft turning approx 1/8 rotation
-occasional 'R' lockout with dash display indicating error along with CEL, multiple attempts will engage reverse
-the 3/4 shift hangs or is tried a few times until it clunks in, especially notable on cold starts

Diagnosis
-new P4 planetary carrier/output assembly needed
-TSB 21-009-25

Having similar problem with my wife's 2019 Sport Unlimited, which unfortunately is out of warranty... do you think this needs to be done at a dealer, or can it be done at 3rd party repair shop?

Anyone offer any suggestions here? Unfortunately the timing of this is horrible, can't afford to take it to dealer and pay upwards of $2k - what's the risk here of driving with this issue long term (6-8 months)?? Can @JeepCares help here?

Unfortunately I have nothing of help to offer here. I know some transmission shops would rather swap it out instead of repair due to the complexity and labor cost.

I can tell you that I drove it for about 1yr like this until it became too problematic and I did not trust it enough to not leave me stranded somewhere! Definitely would not trust it off the grid anywhere a tow truck could not get to it easily.

Hi thank you for this! I have the exact problem currently and is out of warranty (4 months past). What is the total? It seem to be cut off at the bottom there.

Yeah it's cut off, but as another said it shows 'N/C' since it was repaired under warranty. So I have no idea what the cost would have been.
