Does anyone think it is possible to load Garmin topo maps on the navigation?

It will not be possible. Mainly because it's not a Garmin NAV, but also because the system is locked out from installing non-oem maps.

For years guys in the JK world tried and failed to install Topo maps on the 430N radio with utilized Garmin NAV, however they never succeeded.

I think you have better odds of getting a third party app (Google Maps, etc) that is compatible with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto with a topographical feature.

I could be wrong, however I don't believe that using Apple Maps/Google maps via CarPlay or Android Auto will provide that type of detail and the map apps you can buy, won't run on CarPlay or Android. If you need Topo Maps, you'll need a stand alone GPS or a tablet with maps downloaded (along with a GPS receiver if it's not a cellular enabled tablet).

They need to prioritize it. They seemed focused on hikers and unaware of just how many off-roaders/overlanders use the app.

Thanks for the update. I'm tossed between purchasing an iPad mini and using that or waiting for the CarPlay.
