Bad thing about Apple Car and Android whatever is when you plug in it takes control of your phone. Makes your phone a brick basically. I've been using the built-in Nav

No it doesn't. I can pull my Apple in and still use it normally. You do not get to see the Nav screen if it is not the active screen on your phone, but you [not while driving] can do whatever you want with your phone while it is connected.
