I’m not a long time Jeep driver but I’ve ordered one last month and have been waiting ever since. Traded in my Jeep Compass for the 2021 JLUR. Driving topless is the one thing I’m really looking forward to! my wife said she wants to drive topless as well, her and the Jeep both haha

For me, driving topless or with the Sunrider drawn back, is absolutely one of the best parts of owning a Jeep. Especially at sunset or at night when I don't have to worry about the Texas sun beating down on me. If it's during the day, I always keep a hat and sunscreen in the console ready to go.

I have had the top off a few times since purchasing back in May. One of the neatest experiences was driving topless looking at Christmas lights. I highly recommend it while lights are still up in the neighborhood.

Many years ago I removed the top from the CJ and TJs. Not anymore. I wish they made a non removable top option that was a bit quieter at highway speeds. It sure is fun to have the doors and top off but with the wife’s Lupus we can’t do that.

Agree. That’s one reason I liked the older toy landcruisers. A jeep with the exact top but one piece in metal, at least as an option. Also the option to delete the fold down windshield. That way much tighter enclosure and quieter. The mail carrier Jeeps prove they can do it. I have yet to see a jeep driving around with the windshield down. Primary reason it’s illegal on roadway.

I take the freedom panels off frequently, as they are quick and easy. After I have the carport built, the entire top will be coming off quite a bit.

As for dropping the windshield? Fuhgetaboutit! A stag horn beetle in the face will ruin your day...

If that's not for you, maybe consider a G-wagen instead.

Hmm...just because we can doesn't mean we HAVE to.

If I want to experience the open air as I move along I'll get out my motorcycle or bicycle. Even then, I wear a helmet.

I have a 2018 JLR and remove the hardtop in April and added a https://www.spiderwebshade.com/collections/jl-2-door/products/jl-2d-long which stays one even when I put the Hardtop back on. I too have skin cancer (a FL boy) and see my demi every 6 months for treatment. I have had may Jeeps and convertibles... so I get treatment and keep going... I Jeep is in Western NC so in April hardtop off and in Oct/Nov the hardtop goes on... I do not like the cold.

I call my Jeep a week/weekend drive during rainy days but family loves the topless as well as the dog. Cat is not a Jeeping cat.

Took delivery of my JLU in October. Dual top group but I haven’t taken the hard top off yet. I run without the freedom panels whenever I can. I constantly had the top down on my TJ, plan do the same here. Driving an open truck makes for a great commute. Different vehicle with the sky above you.

Got our JLU in October so only had the roof off for 2 days, in New England. My kids have taken the Jeep over so I will be interested to see how next summer goes for them. Tend to think if we are getting multiple days of dry weather the top will be off, if not, the freedom panels will be going off and on.
Got the Racor lift in the garage so they can take the roof of by themselves.
My current lease is up this spring. Debating between another JLU for myself or a JT so may need to get another Racor lift for the other side of the garage.
When I was in my 20's with my YJ, the sun beating down on you was tolerable. Now that I'm 50 I don't think I'll enjoy it as much. Maybe I'll go with the hard and soft top options. I did used to love driving around with the top down and no doors.

Have the top either down or in safari mode most of the year. Doors off good part of the summer. But I have 3 vehicles and the Jeep is in the garage so when ever there is bad weather I just drive another vehicle.
