Aren't these "required" for vehicles over 80 inches wide? That's why the f150 raptor has the three grill lights.

Do the wheels/tires count toward the 80 inches wide or is the body? I've never bothered to look up which it is.

Wait, what? I was under the impression that your mods were primarily for shock value. I'm apparently mistaken.

When I had an F-250 a few moons ago, she called them Bulbasaur heads which always hurt my feelings.

Just the body.
IIRC, it includes the fenders, and, of course, your fenders are supposed to cover your tires.

My off road trailer is over 80 fender to fender and I installed the specific clearance lighting to comply. There are specific locations in addition to the roof top clearance lights, the extended fenders also require them, like you see on duallys and raptors.

Just so we're clear those Amber clearance lights are intended for commercial vehicles. The three lights close together in the middle signify that is a wider than normal vehicle. The two outside lights are supposed to be as far outboard as possible to show the width in the dark. Those lights are not intended for normal vehicles.

Fun fact a lot of people don't know Ford didn't put the three amber lights on the front of the Raptor because they thought it looked cool but because it's so wide it was required by law.
Well now, you do learn something new everyday.

What purpose would they serve?
Just looks. I like the idea of having amber lights up there. I guess there are many Jeep solutions for this out there.

Well yeah but if your fenders don't cover your tires then that's a different issue. I do know that some states are more picky about that than others.

Understand that those clearance lights are also optional for most pickup trucks not standard equipment.

Honestly I think shock value is just an added bonus to the things I like to do to my Wrangler. I mean there's plenty of extravagant things I could do which I haven't because it doesn't really fit into my ultimate goal.

Honestly I'm kind of at the point now where electronics and lights don't seem to make sense to keep adding. I'm currently in the process of figuring out how to do a DIY cargo shelf in the back. Also probably by the end of April I'll have a even surface in the back. Just need to purchase a marine grade plywood and then double side coat it in truck bed liner and figure out how to install it with some hinges.

I probably say I'm definitely toning down a lot of the craziness and trying to focus on more important things right now. Due to recent life changes, I don't have as much money to be throwing away on stupid shit. :CWL: ;)
