Top Amber Lights

Hi everyone, can these type of lights be installed on a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL Sports Unlimited? I have looked for something similar but all I see is in the form of light bars.

Probably (you'd have to measure to verify that there's enough room), but the obvious question is why?

Are you ok with trashing the roof above your windshield to do it? Are you ok with (IMHO) trashing your resale value?

Just make damn sure you're not drilling into anything critical when you drill through your roof.

The highly questionable looks are one thing, but those bolts doing through your roof? Oh, hell no.

You're in Georgia, so maybe those types of lights are more accepted there?

Just so we're clear those Amber clearance lights are intended for commercial vehicles. The three lights close together in the middle signify that is a wider than normal vehicle. The two outside lights are supposed to be as far outboard as possible to show the width in the dark. Those lights are not intended for normal vehicles.


Fun fact a lot of people don't know Ford didn't put the three amber lights on the front of the Raptor because they thought it looked cool but because it's so wide it was required by law.

Honestly the only reason I haven't done this myself yet, is because I think it would look dumb. I've seen it on 4Runners and similar full size SUVs and it never looks very good. It really does seem to only fit well on a large dually pickup truck.

Wait, what? I was under the impression that your mods were primarily for shock value. I'm apparently mistaken.

The challenge will be that those are designed to be wired from underneath. In a normal pickup, the wiring is hidden between the roof steel and the headliner. There is no practical way to conceal the wiring in a hard top. Especially since the two front panels are designed to be removed. I would recommend the Quadratec J5 led light bar. It has the amber clearance markers you are looking for with the added benefit of being an LED light bar. Quadratec J5 LED
