Hi, forgive me I feel like this is a stupid question - but I’m looking for some guidance on what I should do.

I had a dealership do an oil change and rotate my tires. I asked them to rotate all five tires. The only problem is now from the minute I picked up my Jeep my TPMS alert is on and is not reading my driver front tire. I figured if I drove a couple of miles I’d would eventually reset but that has not been the case.

Everything on here I’ve read is that my spare should have had a sensor in it, but it doesn’t appear to be the case. I’m actually just baffled that they just gave my Jeep back like that. Feel it’s super weird they didn’t say “hey there’s no sensor do you want us to put one in there?” I would have just paid the hundred dollars to have them do it and be done with it.

It’s been probably about a month now and the constant alert is annoying. Should I go back to the dealership and say hey, what gives? Or would it just be easier to find a local tire shop and ask them to install one?

All advice is welcome - Jeep newbie here. :)

@Jljeeplexie take full advantage of our free TPMS inspection at one of our stores. They can scan the sensors to be sure one is missing. If so, we only charge $60.00 to replace the sensor. It would come with a 6yr, 75k mile warranty as well. :like:

If your jeep is still under warranty take it back. If not go to an independent shop and have it done

I just got mine replaced at America's (aka Discount Tire) and was charged $60 for the sensor but that doesn't include labor ($24). All in with tax and whatnot It was $90.15.

It is possible that one TPMS battery is dead, it's 4+ years old.
There are ABS based systems out there that don't use these, since 2010 on some cars. I'm surprised everyone hasn't made the switch.

I am not familiar, but do see a few news articles mentioning what you referenced ;)

It seems like they are all very far upstate. I am on the south shore of Brooklyn NY, so your Wilkes-Barre, PA location 140 miles from me is still the closest.

I'll keep hoping and watching for something closer, seems like you guys are always expanding. I'll throw in a suggestion to look on Staten Island, Long Island (closer to Brooklyn), or Central/North New Jersey for locations.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop anyway, appreciate it!

Thanks for the quick reply! As timing would have it, soon after I replied to your comments, I received an email letting me know that Discount Tire has acquired Dunn Tire located in New York and Pennsylvania. I am confident we will be looking for opportunities in/around the Brooklyn area soon.

I told you we would be up there before you know it!;)

Welcome and sorry to hear about the trouble!

You can try some of the suggestions in this post before going back to the dealer: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/tpms-set-reset.103796/post-2154879
OP try these especially removing the spare and leaving it in the garage. When a fresh tire rotation is done especially if they do a 5 tire then the system is initially still looking for that "active" sensor in that is now on the spare and the spare sensor has been in sleep mode so it needs to now wake up which lowering and adding pressure will do that.
