I've used plenty of tire repair stuff but it was all company supplied where I worked, but haven't purchased anything in a while. So what current portable kits are you all carrying on trails?

I'm leaning towards Made in USA stuff here too. Helping support every American made product I can.

Slime branded plug kit from pep-boys or wherever or the plug kit from Harbor Freight.
Love the tiny size and price for these kits...they are almost disposable and totally indispensable IMO. I keep one in every car I own, and they've saved my a$$ many times. One thing I learned the hard way, is that if you repair a damaged tire that has a warranty on it, you might void the warranty. If you are concerned about that, it is better to just use your spare and let the tire shop repair or replace the damaged tire.

Thanks for all of the replies. Lots of great ideas at work here. I'll either make up a kit or buy a kit and customize it a bit since there are a couple of things missing from those.

I want to have this on hand to get me going at least out of a trail, home or a tire shop. I've never trusted tire plugs alone for more than emergencies. Always use a patch too on the inside of the tire for a complete tire repair. I've had a portable air compressor for more than 10 years for airing back up after off-roading.

Tire plug kit. How to use
Clockwise Small bag, Bunch of plugs*, insertion tool*, Reamer tool*, Tire cement**, Chanel locks to open the Cement container and tighten it later. Bonus Fine black pepper for stop-leak on the hole in your radiator. Crayon to mark puncher, Tire pressure gauge. Ziplock cutters&+*** to remove excess plug when done, Tiny plyers*** to hold the first plug while inserting the later ones.

*Get at Walmart, ** get at auto parts store, *** get at Harbor Freight

Use the kit. Find and ream the puncher, Put a plug in the insertion tool- 1/3 in the tool. Put the plug in the cement and then into the puncher. Cut off the excess flush with the rest of the tread. I have use as many as 12 to fill a large puncher and it is necessary to hold the previous ones when putting in the newest one.
Nice emergency kit! This a a good example how I might go with mine if I build my own kit. I like the can of adhesive and rubber plugs better than those rope like plugs in some kits.

Not worried about a tire warranty when I need to get going. I almost always change the tire over performing a tire repair, but I want a backup plan.
