Tire Lug Rumble!

You know that rumble from M/T’s that you hear and feel at very low speed? Many don’t like it, but I love it. Which are your favorite tires for making that rumble?

I’m looking to replace my KO2s that have no such charm.

Too bad they don't make Denman Ground Hawgs anymore, some of the best "rumbling" tires ever!
My current Milestar Patagonias have a nice hum, not obtrusive but you know they're not a tire for getting best MPGs

I'm not a fan of a loud rumble or feeling it. However, the Yokohama Geolandar MT+ are LOUD and you can feel the lugs. They no longer make them but they can be found.

The Nitto Mud Grappler are super loud as well. Sound like a buzz saw.

Super Swampers and Mud Boggers are super loud and rumble as well.

Bias ply super swampers early in the morning will give you all the bumpiness and individual lug feeling you could want. We have since switched to 38x15.50 mud grapplers. They are extremely loud but fairly smooth.

I can personally attest to this. Very smooth riding and sounds like a prop plane while going down the road.

Does loud noise at high speed go with low speed rumble (feel), or can you have one without the other?

Loudest tires I’ve ever had were mud grapplers. Gnarliest low speed rumble was a tsl bogger.

They were on my dedicated crawler. If it sat in the garage for any length of time, even aired up, the tires were flat spotted for the first two miles or so. Took so much weight and balancing beads to get them dialed in. 52 mph was the max with them. Disgustingly gnarly tire off road though. Mine went under the knife eventually and they were killer.

You can have loud tires while still being smooth at low speeds. For example, worn MT tires will be much louder towards the end of their lifespan while not being able to feel each individual lug at low speeds (if evenly worn).

All dependent on the tread design. If the voids are large enough, you can feel the lugs at a slow roll. This was even very noticeable with even brand new original BFG mud terrains. Pre km2. Grab an irok or tsl and you will def notice it.

I have had the original BFG and many sets of Super Swampers as mentioned in an earlier post. I was telling him that the two do not necessarily go together by giving an example.

Thanks for the posts so far. There are some interesting tires out there. I should probably mention I’m looking for suitable DD tires like the Falken Wildpeaks.
