I have a ‘21 Unlimited Sport w/ 2.5 in rough country lift, 17 in blue rhino wheels, and 34 in all terrain Hercules tires (11k miles). All mods were installed in late December and I was good at highway speeds (60+). I went to the dealership for an oil change/tire rotation in May and immediately, on my way home, I noticed a vibration once I hit 60 mph, which gets more violent as I drive faster. The vibration is almost exclusively in the seat and makes it unbearable to drive that fast.

I got the tires balanced and an alignment, as it was swerving some too. This helps it not being all over the road, and I have a rough country steering stabilizer being put on in the next week or so, so hopefully that fixes that issue. However, the vibration at 60+ is still there.

I hesitate to call the dealership because of how I was spoken to the last time I called, but I will if it comes down to it.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Dealers are for stock components. When it comes to aftermarket, their instructions should be "don't touch it". They don't want to do it and you don't want them doing it.

As others hinted, go to a real tire/wheel shop and have the tires rebalanced. This is most likely a wheel weight issue.

Check your tire pressure. Dealers like to fill them well into the 40 PSI range which contributes to wondering.

Check your lug nuts and verify they are all tight.

Yes, check PSI, and check tire balancing. If you feel it in the steering wheel, it’s a front tire issue. If you feel it in the seat, it’s a rear tire balance issue… usually.

I will cage this by saying, sorry if this is a dumb questions as I am new to the Jeep world, vehicle customization in general, and navigating it all myself. That said...

I had the tires rebalanced last Thursday and it vibrated over the weekend. Is it worth taking it to another shop to have the balance checked again? When I had them balanced last week, the guys at the shop kept telling me the the tires "fought with them" to balance, which was not explained further. Now I am afraid that means it wasn't done well.

Thank you for making the differentiation for me, I wasn't sure what the vibration in the seat meant. Everyone keeps saying the steering wheel and I dont feel it there, so this is good to know.

The tires were definitely all near 40 or even higher. I have adjusted it down, so hopefully that helps some. Thanks.

Exactly right, that shop probably made it worse. Can easily happen if a balancer is out of calibration or tech is not well trained or motivated.

The thing to figure out is where you want to place your trust; deciding whether that shop deserves a do-over or if they suck and start over with a better shop.

The shop you want will have a road force balancer, and cater to the off-road trade or performance vehicles with oversized tires. And have a good reputation in that community.
