Tiny leakage from around oil filter thingy

I clean that part with wet paper towel. But when I drive around and oil gets hot and Jeep sees 82 psi oil pressures, afterwards there is very tiny weeping from around the red dots, the location where the two thingies meet. And I clean it again with paper towel. It is very tiny amount of oil. Is this normal? Is it because of 17 foot pounds that I did, one less than the recommended 18 foot pounds.

Did you replace the o ring when changing the oil?

Is the housing cracked?

Was it torqued to spec?

I bet the o-ring is missing or not installed correctly.

Yes, no, and yes.

If there is oil around there the cap might not be down all the way. This happened to me once. I thought I had tightened it but I hadn't. Got oil everywhere.

When I tighten the housing down, it almost comes to a stop. Then, just a light snug, done. So far so good.

Replaced the O ring and filter and double checked everywhere. Dried everything and now will drive around to see if it still leaks.

Guys that's 25.5 newton meters, it is more than 18 ft pounds. I am setting my wrench to 25 NM.

I wouldn't worry about the torque. Just keep turning until it stops. You'll feel when it's down all the way.

I hate the plastic oil filter housing. On my last Jeep I had to have it replaced 2x after using 2 different quick lube places. Who both paid my favorite mechanic to replace it. They do make an aluminum oil filter housing that is supposed to be miles better than the stock plastic. But they’re very prone to leaving because of heating and cooling. After all it is plastic.
