Hopefully this is the right forum. I'm waiting on my 2021 JLUR to get here. It's shipped, and in the 2-week delivery window now. Dealer says it's likely to get here around the 15th.

Through a very active online local community here in Austin, found a Jeep shop that seems very reputable. Pinged them about getting a lift + bigger tires + wench setup. Was originally thinking going 35's, but now thinking 37's. With that, it'll mostly be a DD, but I 100% want to get into off-roading, and hitting the trails a few times a month. Forgive me, as I'm new to all this. Here's what they're suggesting:

- Metalcloak 3.5" true dual rate lift w/ rocksport shocks. Sounds like new driveshaft is included here as well.
- Cooper SST Pro 37x12.50R17 (I actually like the SST pro and asked for these...have family in the business there..) The other option would be Nitto RG, but they're on backorder until January.
- Rough Country wheel spacers and tire relocation bracket (I've read lots of hate on RC...but can't imagine these two things really matter as far as brand...and they're likely just trying to save me some $)
- Revolution 5.38 regear package.
- Warn VR EVO winch

With that, from what I've read on metalclock, they seem to have good reviews. No real concern with the tires. The RC stuff, again, I don't think for those specific parts it's a huge deal. The winch seems good. I guess what's got me most on edge is doing the regear and the brand they're recommending. Haven't seen a lot on Revolution as I've searched. It also seems crazy to regear a brand new 60k vehicle, but I understand why it needs to be done if I go with those tires + lift.

Thoughts? Anything I should be concerned with I'm not thinking about?

Congrats on your new rig...... imho , MC is a great lift, can’t go wrong there. The only things I don’t agree with is , you don’t need wheel spacers as long as you go by MC recommendation for backspace of wheels. The Rubi axles are wider than the other trims.

I personally would only use spare tire carrier that replace factory hinges, or a bumper mount carrier if you plan to wheel it. I’d also hold off re-gearing until you drive it, with 37s it’s kinda borderline of needing to re-gear.

And since it’s your DD , I would be looking at 4.88, or 5.13 at the most if you do re-gear.

This is just my opinion and .02, good luck with your build.

Thanks!

For the wheels, this was using the stock Rubi wheels. Haven’t decided if I want to change those out as well, but considering it. I’d assume with the stock wheels I might need the spacers but depending on the aftermarket I choose I might not?

Jeep shops in Austin have wenches? I knew Texas was nice, but man!

In all seriousness though, Dana/Spicer makes all of those gear ratios as well if you're concerned and want to re-gear. I usually try to re-gear with OEM gears. I've heard good things about other brands, but Im not familiar with Revolution.

Quick search on their website lists Korea/Japan as country of origin in their kits. I imagine Korea for the gears and Japan for the Koyo bearings....

Spicer is USA made.

Thanks for that info. Something to look into and ask about!

My rubi (3.6 auto) is on a 2" Mopar lift with 37" BFG KO2's. Cant go wrong with 37's. I agree on drive it first before regear. I havent regeared and it is really good.

What engine are you getting? Auto trans?

I am actually shocked how my auto and rubi gears handle my 37s on the tiny bit I drove so far. Austin is fairly flat...I'd try as is first.

Wish I had the coopers, but I got a deal. The MC was on top of my list. That or Clayton overland+

Agreed on getting a better tire carrier. I did the Evo. But, I can't say it was needed. I never tried a relocate.

Metal cloak front lower control arms are bent inward like the oem arms so to keep tire from rubbing at full turn. So I think you can run factory wheels without spacers .

You can always turn out your turn stops a little, but not sure you’ll have to. @OnlyOne is running 37s on stockers I believe, maybe he’ll chime in with more details.

Nobody has mention the fact that daily driving a mud terrain will be noisy and your traction in rain and snow may not be optimal. I would consider another tire for a DD vehicle.

Congrats on your new jeep, sounds like you're going to have a sweet build.

Careful with re-gearing so aggressively, especially if it's a daily driver. The rubicon can get away with 37's and 4.10 gears but we've all read that a 4.88 or even 5.13 gears do make a nice difference rock crawling.

It doesn't seem like you are that concerned with budget so you might think about getting different shocks. Maybe consider some remote reservoir shocks for better heat dissipation, plus a lot of them are adjustable for a more customized ride. They are a bit more pricey but it does make a noticeable difference and I'm sure folks who have equipped their rigs with RR shocks aren't mad at themselves for it. There aren't a lot of forums which start off with "Dang, I shouldn't have gotten the Fox 2.5 Factory Race Remote Reservoir shocks". I run the ADS piggybacks and I love them with the MC GC 2.5" lift. I do run EVO springs instead of the MC though.

Get some wheels that have the proper clearances (backspacing / offset) without the need for spacers. There's so many good choices out there that are robust, affordable, and better suited for off road use.

good luck with your build and start yourself a build thread.

You can use your factory wheels with 37s just fine. I’ve been running factory wheels for a long time. As @Roky said, just turn your steering stops out a few turns, assuming you’re going to run a lift with correct bumpstops.
Absolutely zero need for new wheels unless you want them. You also get a little extra off-road with factory wheels. Although they are a little skinny, the wheels make for a nice poor mans beadlock when airing down. You can also beat the crap out of them and then buy another set for nothing from other members, that just have to have their black wheels. Lol

Another point, if you’re going to run the Metal Cloak kit you you won’t be able to run the Factory wheels with the front shock relocation brackets. You can always not run the brackets if you want the factory wheels, but MC flexes so well you need the space for the shocks to keep from contacting the frame under flex. Something to consider.
