I had emailed my order the day Jeep suspended the XR package and therefore missed out on this round. I stumbled across this 2022 Rubicon within a couple of hours of me. Someone has spend considerable money in options and it appears it has 392 wheels and tires. My only concern is the 3.0. My primary concerns are not as much the reliability as it appears the majority that have them have had minimal problems, but what about the resale value and the availability of parts since Jeep is saying farewell to this motor. I am also wondering if the suspension experts can tell if this is lifted or just has a 35 inch tire?

My concern is that the previous owner focused too much on the “looks,” which makes me wonder if they focused equally on the “substance.”

For instance:
  1. You are correct, those appear to be 35s on the standard height suspension
  2. Those are indeed 392 wheels, which is fine, but then why the cheap spare tire cover....?
  3. They also spent a bit of money on the dashboard covers but kept the seats cloth
  4. They paid a premium for the 3.0TD but didn’t get the LEDs
  5. Do they still have the bumper end caps? And what’s going on with the red fog lights?

All in all, looks like a strange vehicle. Which then makes me wonder if the rooftop tent is there just for “looks” as well.

I’d pass if it were me. Especially if you don’t want the diesel.

if you want a used Rubicon XR, I’d also look at regular, unmodified Rubicons. Adding a lift and a set of 35s is no big deal.

Good luck.

35'S fit without a lift.
The spare is the same wheel.
I almost ordered my JLURD with cloth seats.
Those are LED's
I considered ordering mine with the steel bumper set and would have gotten a winch plate and pulled the end caps. I prefer sorties.

We are all on our own individual Jeep journeys. I like it and wondering what I will do when mine is worn out and needs to be replaced.

But the XR adds the 4.56 and the steel knuckles and you can't get it with the 3.0. Love my diesel....

I think these are all strange reasons to pass on this without even looking at it.
Maybe this person got it in the hopes of doing overlanding and then figured it wasn't their thing. Maybe the spare tire cover is because they only got their hands on 4 392 wheels and didnt want it to look weird having a spare with a different wheel. Maybe they were in the process of upgrading the interior and didn't finish because they realized Jeeps weren't for them. The diesel is expensive enough so maybe they didn't get LEDs because they could just do that later when they had the funds and get a better aftermarket option.
We all know people do strange and tasteless things to Jeeps, in fact there is a whole thread on here dedicated to it.

As for the Price it is right in the ad. $58,816

Perhaps. But the OP doesn’t trust the diesel. That’s his whole point.

I hear you on the 4.56 and the steel knuckles. But I know guys who lifted their Rubicon and added 35s, and have no issues with the stock 4.10 gears.

My point is: the OP should expand his search to include regular Rubicons. Adding a lift and 35s is nothing.

Yes, I saw the price later. The dealer page loads up funny on my iPad.

Those are already too many “maybes” when you are buying a used vehicle, IMO.

I don’t see anything on this Jeep that’d make me give it a serious consideration, besides the fancy wheels. Most of the stuff on this Jeep can be added to a regular Rubicon, at a better price, and without the guesswork.

The Jeep is a year old and only has 8K miles, with some upgrades to build from. If you think that price is high for a diesel in this market then you don't understand the current state of the world.

Thanks for the comments, I am not anti-diesel, would love the range but was worried about resale and the fact it is discontinued platform.

You seem more concerned with justifying your own purchase than anything else.

There’s no evidence that the diesel has lower resale.

And the reason it is being discontinued has more to do with tightening emission standards, and where Stellantis is going as a company.

My only concern would be if I lived in a state with strict emissions, like California, and will be required to pass regular smog tests in the future.

Or is it you trying to justify yours? I don't care if the OP buys it or not, but 58K for a diesel with 8K miles is a good starting point. Is it insane for a Jeep? Absolutely, but thats what Jeeps cost and they are overinflated, everyone knows that. You don't know anything about the purchase of my Jeep pal.

The Gladiator is still going to have this engine as an option at least for now. No one at this point knows when that will change. Parts will be available for the life of the jeep, and I think by law manufacturers are required to keep stock for at least 10 years after a discontinued model.
As for resale, no one knows. Maybe everyone will want diesels in a few years......or maybe everyone will lose their mind and decide they want an EV.
