"Overlanding is not a real hobby"

I can't say I disagree with his assessment...

I was just telling the sweetheart earlier it would be cool to just throw some food doesnt need cooking and a blanket in the jeep, and go.

She shrugged.

I then said I'm gonna drive through mud. An exetrmely confused stare was followed by "you wanna get the new car you just washed covered in mud"

I simply replied "I need a hobby"

When I first heard of overlanding I thought, "Ohhh, you meaning driving somewhere to camp, then driving further and camping again."

It's about as overused as "offroading," when people think that means "off pavement."

Why does it have it’s own name? Isn’t it just camping? Or is it wagon-ing? (I’m thinking Oregon Trail)🤔

This guy DOESN’T get it!

If your interested in overlanding then you should take what idiots like this say with a grain of salt. His definition and perspective is way too narrow and dim witted.

There has been much debate about overlanding on this and other forums, what is it, why you might care about it, and the good, the bad and the ugly of it. But for goodness sake don’t post crap like this on a thread and name it “This guy gets it.”

It’s not that I disagree with his premise, but he doesn’t have a clear intelligent definition of what overlanding is.

Anyway, here’s a guy that explains the marketing trends of overlanding in a more constructive way.

So, you agree?

I realize these double-negatives are used to sound smart, but dimwitted folks like me get cornfused. Mmm, corn.

I thought the youtuber was being ironic and sarcastic about something trendy. Struck a nerve I guess.

No I don’t agree but i’m open minded to debates with people I don’t agree with if they have a cogent argument.

Mmm, at least you publicly acknowledge your limitations.
