Cyl deactivation is some thing else to go wrong. A 5.7 is a great engine and gets good fuel mlg in regular form.

It's even on the Build and Price page at Jeep.com. It says it's just a Rubicon 392, but if you look at all the standard features it is a 2025 edition of the "Final Edition" . I noticed they were either testing the page or failing horribly at adding it about a week ago. They got it all worked out by the weekend.
Those will al use existing engines built in Mexico before they switched to full Hurricane production.

Also, the configurator is (hopefully) still not working - in the images, the wheels aren't bronze, the seats/dash are cloth, and it has that awful triple hoop (which was reported to not be on the 2025 FE).

I just want a V8 in the JT. I know it will never come with a manual, but I'd rather have a V8 than a 6spd.

yes i know right!? it makes me angry that jeep likes to gouge consumers for no good reasons sometimes.
I'm wishing for non insane anything these days considering how much insanity is going around. Considering that an automatic transmission for the V6 is $4500 it would be good fortune to see the 5.7 and automatic for anything under $10k.
That why I am glad I have always driven manual transmission vehicle. I paid $4500 less for my Rubicon. I wouldn't buy a Jeep with an Automatic transmission. A manual is half the fun. But that is personal preference. But Jeep knows that people will pay the extra...

Unless it’s in a Challenger with a 6 speed manual it’s got cyl deactivation.

Disable MDS with a NoLimitz JL, the collapsing lifters will at least not be constantly collapsing and un-collapsing. I turned it on and left it on. 👍

A Wrangler fan can dream but all these statements about what the incremental price for the customer should be based on what the incremental cost to Stellantis could be …

… it just makes no sense. The price will be close to whatever the market will bear in order to maximize Stellantis’ profit.

The more you drool the higher the price.

I was mainly just pointing out that the 392 was officially added to the 2025 build and price page.

I rarely pay too much attention to what's shown in the mock up pictures. It would be nice if they worked right and refreshed within a second or 2 of making a change. But they haven't worked very good for a few years.
