oddly, i actually did have a legitimate use for the light show a couple of times.

most significantly was one time i was helping out a couple that had flipped their rented SxS in Pismo; we could see the Rescuers coming toward us, but they kept turning off and going the wrong way.
i pointed the front of our J**p towards where they were coming from and flipped on one of the shows that strobed the front lights, and they found us almost immediately. (those LEDs are pretty bright, even in full sunlight!)
i later heard one of the Emergency Responders say he ignored the directions he had been given and came towards the stobes.

otherwise, they're handy if you're working an event where you might have your private vehicle on a closed public road. (i support some bike rides and other charity events.)

the light show feature is one of the last things on the list of reasons i got a Tazer, but it's not totally without merit.

If anyone wants to have their own private rave in their garage using the Tazer light show function who are we to judge.

I'm a nerd and love the lightshow. I've made a custom lights shows and wired all my aux lights in to the lights how as well.

I use it when off roading in an ohv park or crowded place like silver lake sand dunes.

what happens if you don’t umarry yout tazer and just take it out? i have a tazer that i just use for tpms and eventually tire size

right now it is in the jeep but what would happen if it was just unplugged (not unmarried )?
would i loose my setting just like it was unmarried or would the settings remain?

No some settings stay but I cant remember if TPMS is one of them. Check the Tazer manual or google.

Or you can use JScan to make setting changes. No marrying/unmarrying required and the settings stay. You just need a license for your VIN. I have not compared the two to see if one does settings the other doesn't. JScan does a lot, though. One problem with marrying/unmarrying to go to the dealer is that you will be bringing it in with incorrect settings for the actual equipment on the vehicle. Some things might throw codes, some things might not work.

um, "...if you don't need it", why would you need it?

the dealer won't adjust your TPMS limits.
nor will they enable the ability to keep your ESS switched off, or tie the hood in to the Alarm, or many of the other things the Tazer will allow you if you learn how to use it.

I'm on my third Jeep JL with my shop/dealership. Here's my experience:

1) My service manager talked me into allowing them to reprogram the computer for the new tire size. His logic was that if any drive-line warranty issues arose, they could use the reprogramming as evidence that I was not abusing the vehicle. Also, it allowed the removal of the Tazer for shop visits.

2) I've always unmarried and removed my Tazer for shop visits. Do buy the wire extension to make this easier ... especially on the 2024 and up vehicles. If the shop flashes an update, you have the opportunity to lose the update when you unmarry the Tazer later. Also, if you unmarry and leave the Tazer installed, the dealer's scan tools will show it. Unmarried mine the last time and forgot to remove it ... found the service tech investigating the "red" light on his scanner. Once I mentioned that it was still physically installed, he undeerstood what it was.

3) Check with your dealership on how they feel about the Tazer. Mine prefers that I unmarry and remove it. My friend goes to a different shop (same dealership) and they don't mind it being left in the vehicle. Go figure.

Last one was done in the spring of 2023. My local dealer had the price jacked way up ... went across town to get it at another dealership ... paid MSRP.

when i checked with my dealer (over a year or so ago?) about reprogramming for tires and gears, they could only adjust for tire size, and no longer could help with adjusting for gear ratio changes. not long before that there were able to adjust for both.

their recommended solution was "go aftermarket, something like a Tazer".

oh, I got my Jeep back from the shop and they had pulled the taser interestingly enough they didn’t unmarry it, They just pulled it.and my tpms light is not illuminated at 30 psi
