Hello everyone, looking for a little help. Recently had a shop install my Teraflex Alpha Hinge and Carrier. Noticed when I got home after a long drive that the bottom part of the door is sitting lower. Gaps around seem ok. Would need to raise it a few MM. Just don’t feel like driving back to be honest. Anyone have experience raising it? Thought they would have been able to do it since they are a specialty shop.

Adjusting that thing was a nightmare. It took two of us and loosening some bolts, tightening others, lifting up the gate.... like over and over again. We got it to a point where it was good enough and called it a day.

As long as the gate closes fine I wouldn't worry about it. Or grab a buddy and see if you can adjust some bolts until it lines up.

Ugh. That sounds terrible. lol. I was hoping someone would say loosen the 4 bolts securing the hinge to the gate. Lift up but some rubber isolators underneath and tighten. lol

Adjusting mine was an exercise in frustration. My gaps are close but not perfect. It closes easily and doesn’t bind or rattle. That’s good enough for me…

I’d reach out to the installer but I don’t have as much confidence now and they might make it worse. Ha

Can't hurt to give this a try.

Not to minimize others' frustration, but to offer some hope:

I didn't have much trouble aligning mine, or realigning it after removing the tailgate to apply a vinyl wrap. I just followed the Teraflex instructions.

If you read the Teraflex instruction, it’s not too bad. May take a few tries to get it how you want it but with some patience it will work out.

well this is exactly what I did and after putting it off forever, it was pretty easy to do. Can now close the tailgate with one hand since it is lined up correctly. Give it a shot!

Now I'm getting clunking noise and other rattles coming from it... Guess I have a project on my hand. Anyone else have a clunk noise after installing it?

No clunks on mine.... it took me FOREVER to get it lined up properly, and I did exactly what Teraflex tells you NOT to do, and pried on the tailgate with nylon trim panel removal tools.

Personally, couldn't figure out a way to do this myself without prying on the tailgate a bit, but all the gaps are perfect. Surprisingly, my spare is so heavy, that I have to have the tailgate adjusted to the point it won't even close without weight on it, but as soon as the spare tire is on there, it operates like a dream.

If it's clunking, the spare might not be flush against the tailgate. If this is the case, every time you hit a bump, the spare would be bouncing on the adjustable mount with nothing to brace it. I would check that first.

It requires a lot of trial and error adjusting the bolts and then eventually upgrading your stereo speakers to hide the tailgate noises.

The tire is firmly against the Teraflex hinge. That was the first thing I checked. Wondering what else it could be. Almost like something is loose.
