There is literally a picture with a T55 inserted on this site. What else do you need?
Oh man, this is all my fault, I had a pile of bolts at the time I took that picture and the T-55 one is from the tailgate. Looks like they are indeed a different size.
Which is why I said I’m confused now,
I’m just accounting for my experience. I don’t even have T55 torx head in my toolbox, max was T50, the T50 won’t even fit with paint on it and will strip the bolt if you just wrench it. I had to hammer it in hard and it fits snug, no movement whatsoever, which is what made think it should be a T50 bolt, sure it could be a T55, but I had no issues removing it with a T50 torx socket.

P.S Your part number posted also reference to the painted hood hinge bolt. I’m just curious why Jeep decided to use different torx bolts at various locations. If they are using T55 to account for the paint thickness, they could very well be designed to still be taken out with T50 while still retaining the paint on it. Who knows.

@mwilk012 they are def T55. Maybe little extra paint on your bolts but def size 55.

...And your phone has a flash or use a flashlight if to dark.

Post your pics please.
I'm not going out there with the mosquitoes, check your own bolts lol, compare the tailgate and door hinges. You can see how obvious the difference is.

I have done major work to my rig...trust me the bolts are the same.

You dont want to run out to snap a quick photo because of mosquitos??

The heck you live??.....the Amazon?!
Virginia. I don't exactly have a vested interest in saying that the bolts are T-50, I'm saying I was wrong.

Also, I don't disagree with you, your bolts may indeed be the same. The part numbers in the drawings are the same.

THE BOLTS ARE T55!!

however, I use flex bit B50 from Harbor Freight. A true bargain at only 68 cents each.

Because the bolts are painted i would def use the B50 torx bit.

The "B" series bits will swell up slightly with a few drops of water once in place on the bolt.

They are specifically engineered for freeing up painted bolts.

You could also go up to a K60 and with a heat gun add some heat and the bit will shrink into place.

Harbor Freight is by far the best quality and price for Jeep supplies. Highly recommend!!
The 60 will shrink with heat?

I just checked for you, first photo is tailgate hinge, too big for T50, second picture is door hinge, too small for T50 without breaking the paint, they are definitely difference sizes. T55 would fit in the tailgate hinge, but I don’t see how in the world it would fit in the door hinge. Even T50 is too big for it without hammering it in hard.

Here is another comparison between the two different hinge bolts. Difference is night and day. I am holding a T50 bit, see for yourself. @digitalbliss certain individuals on this forum, I won’t name names, will jump on the opportunity to dish out their superiority complex and condescend on fellow member for whatever thrill they seek.

All this back and forth made me curious. I went outo and checked my rig (no Bama skeeters in the garage). The door and tailgate bolts are definitely different. They look to be 50 in the door and 55 in the tailgate.

To borrow from Jeff Foxworthy, "HERE'S YOUR SIGN" ....it has a marking "T-50" on the door hinge. The tailgate screws are clearly much larger.

Get a few spare cheap bits. Put one in a cheap socket and extension and heat it with a torch until the bit is hot as hell, then work it into the screw thru the paint. The paint should melt. Once you get it to fit, you can heat the bit again and leave it in the head to transfer heat to break the paint loose from the hinge/bolt. Use a new bit (cold) in an impact wrench.

Lol I was messing with everyone

Thanks for clarifying for those who didnt get the cold stamp upgrade package of having the bolt size stamped onto the hinge.

The stamped T-50 with the Arrow pointing down is to show the size of the door hinge bolt, the one that is removed for door removal. They are coincidentally the same size, but the stamp has nothing to do with the other 2 bolts.

Doesn’t matter, a T55 will not fit in the door hinge. End of discussion, if you want to argue more, please show a video of you hammering a T55 into your door hinge and not doing significant damage to the bolt in the process.

How many times, across how many threads, do I have to say that the door hinges are bolted on with a T-50 and that a T-55 is not correct?

So why was I getting piled on by 3 guys by suggesting hammering in the T50 to get a snug fit?? And calling out the BS.
