Stock stereo is complete shit

I’ve legitimately never, ever heard worse quality base speakers than the ones in my ‘24 Sahara. It truly was shocking as I’ve gone through about a dozen cars ranging from cheap to very expensive.

Even though mine was a lease it was the first time I’ve ever done a full audio upgrade in a vehicle. It’s just embarrassing to have those as stock, they sounded like a bunch of iPhone speakers.

I feel the same way. I drive many different rental cars for work, and the 24 Sahara stereo is the worst. I still don’t understand how you can put that type of stereo in a $50,000 vehicle.

..just to add another dimension to its "suckyness," on reliable sources and owner reports, those who have tried to run ESS events on factory dual AGM battery JLs that have been converted to one battery via the cable and Fuse 42 pull have found that the sensitive electronics in the entertainment system take a hit and that this is why Stellantis put that second battery into the vehicle....

...and we all know how well that dual battery setup has been (not)

The speakers in my 2024 JLUR are garbage, just like they were in my 2017 JKUR. Audio is a must upgrade in these if you care about quality. There’s quite a few threads on here if you search with good recommendations on budget installs if needed.

I did, but I also didn’t play with the settings, so I just figured it was all at to flat, but like I said, she doesn’t care, just bothers me

Check the settings on the radio. Mine sounded absolutely horrible when I took delivery but it turned out all the equalizer settings were at the extremes, randomly all the way down or up. Very strange how that could have happened but once I moved them to the middle, it sounds good.

To me having a good audio system in a jeep is a waste. All that tires, road and wind noise, motor revving, in a vehicle that has soundproofing of a tuk tuk scooter, makes it useless. You don't hear a half of what you're listening to no matter how good your sound system is. And no, I'm not deaf. I'm a former pro musician and I'm enjoying good quality music on a good quality gear, but at home. While driving, especially in a jeep, news and podcasts are the only audio I'm listening. JMHO.

The mall crawlers are outing themselves.

growing up driving 80s and 90s vehicles i have no problem with my jeeps basic stereo. its not GREAT but FAAAR from sucking.... i think people have gotten too spoiled with oem stereo systems. hell, the BOSE system in my GMC Sierra sucks.

oh, and $50k is the new $30k, so thats not saying much.....

I did not have the upgraded stereo in my rubicon. But what makes a huge difference is a powered subwoofer. I just added the kicker 10" hideaway one. It was easy to install and there's a good thread on it here if you search. Really makes a big difference and it was under 300 bucks in sale.

Ill eventually change out the other speakers but there is no rush

The poor audio with the non-upgraded system I cannot speak to, but I really don't understand those talking about the upgraded Alpine system as being 'meh' or worse. The premium audio in the Jeep is awesome, by far the best car stereo I've ever had. I'm no audio expert, but I have zero complaints (except for the rare occasions where the sound doesn't work at all, but that's an easy fix when it does).

I think the speakers in the upgrade option alpine system in my 2020 are pretty good, but could be better. They could have used stronger 3" speakers in the top of the dashboard and used larger speakers in the speaker bar in the back.​

but yea, I wasn't disappointed at all. The subwoofer is nice too.​

Have owned many vehicles over the years... by far some of the worst sounding stereos have been from Chrysler products. I didn't put on the list, but even our Jeep GC and Durango where mediocre at best.

Yeah… stock, non-alpine speaker system sucks. No power or low end punch, and useless with the top off. Added a 10” kicker hideaway sub and upgraded soundbar and dash speakers with kicker replacements a couple years ago now- much much better.
