Turn off stereo completely?

Hey folks,
I rented an FCA minivan in September and it had the most annoying car stereo ‘feature’ ever on its uconnect system- it would NOT stay off!

I’d get in the car, and it would start playing the radio, or a kids program from my iPhone, or whatever was on last, I’d hold down the button to turn it off, and the next time you got back in the car it was back on at the same volume.

Does the system in the JL have this same amazing feature, or does off mean off?

I'm pretty sure mine remembers the last setting. When off, it stays off, except for when the backup camera is triggered.

Not sure about the new JL as I don’t have mine yet. However, my Chrysler 300C does the same thing as your rental. I try to remember to turn the volume off (all the way down) so when I get back into the car I don’t get annoyed by it coming on by itself.

My “Off” button turns the whole UConnect screen off but it does turn back on when I get back in.

My JL remembers if I left mine "off" (screen actually off, no backlight). If I shut it down with the "screen off" (screen blacked out, backlight on) or muted, it will go back to the last known volume setting and screen on on the next startup.

Much better than my 15 challenger that always went back to last known volume. (I had to remember to turn the knob and not hit the button if I wanted silence, otherwise I'd get blasted at startup.)
