Have owned many vehicles over the years... by far some of the worst sounding stereos have been from Chrysler products. I didn't put on the list, but even our Jeep GC and Durango where mediocre at best.

TOP 3 WORST
1. C7 Corvette (absolute trash!)
2. '14 Challenger RT
3. '20 Wrangler :'(

TOP 3 BEST
1. '05 Cadillac STS (hit hard!)
2. Lexus IS300
3. '17 VW GTI
I wouldn't own any of your worst 3 for the sound system it came with.

You are correct. Had the upgraded systems in the other two, but this one is the base. I’m just surprised that the base stereo is such garbage on a $50,000 vehicle
Yep. But...

I have the upgraded in the wrangler, and the base unit in a cherokee. The cherokee sort of sounds better to me, so body dependent.

Yeah… stock, non-alpine speaker system sucks. No power or low end punch, and useless with the top off. Added a 10” kicker hideaway sub and upgraded soundbar and dash speakers with kicker replacements a couple years ago now- much much better.
Do you remember which kicker speakers you put in the soundbar and dash? And did you swap the much panel ones too?

Looking to upgrade mine now

Hmm… I do not remember the kicker model numbers specifically… And I had Best Buy do the install. Replaced dash, soundbar, and added HS10 sub under passenger seat. Did not replace the knee panels.

Ill be honest, I heard the OEM Audio (its Company name, not the shit it comes with) this weekend at the King shocks toy drive. It really does sound amazing. Its plug and play no splicing of wires, just pricey

+10.

I've a touch of the ol' tinnitus as a consequence of working in close proximity to the jets (the kind that carry weapons, not people) for several years. That said, even I can observe a material difference in sound quality when comparing Bluetooth'd mp3s to that which has a hard connection via a lil' USB drive. The latter is plainly better.
im a product of 40 years of flying jets, all I hear is jets…..

I called out Sirius on their product about quality of sound and bit rates. They said they put the highest bit rate into podcasts and sports, while running bare minimum on all the probably most used, the rock, country, jazz channels. I said that’s messed up, who care what a football game or Sterns sounds like. That’s what they do.

I never paid for Sirius when I lived in the city, but now the closest country fm station is over a mountain 10 miles away. Need me my AC/DC

I’m waiting for starlink to go full on satellite cell phone, then use that for the best bit rates.

I’m at $3300 currently and my stereo has just moved to tolerable on my ‘18 Sahara. Best of luck getting it the way you want it.

Use the money that you saved, by not buying the Alpine, to upgrade. With a little research you can probably do better than the premium factory sound for less money. I'm somewhat indifferent, I just checked the box on the Alpine system.

I haven't read the whole thread. If you bought off the lot, you should consider custom ordering next time. and get it exactly as you want. But, that said, it sounds like you got it exactly like your wife wants, and that's what is important, it's her Jeep - right?

Sirius XM is a scam, in my view, and undeniably a successful one. That you confirmed how they play reindeer games with bit rates isn't surprising.

My wife's new Honda included a 6-month free trial of the service. True to form, we were inundated (that is absolutely the correct verb here) with subscription offers during and after the trial period. Texts, letters and calls...all which continued despite our unambiguous demands for them to cease. I therefore took a bit of pleasure in leading the callers on before flatly denying their latest offer. Eventually, the communication stopped.

As a fellow banger, I can dig it, Scott. 🤘 I've settled for stuffing a thumb drive with the best quality mp3s I can find.

As I mentioned, and as you can no doubt understand, the long-term effect of the jets on my hearing is such that I can't enjoy the absolute sum of a song's sound quality, so...good enough is, for me, good enough.

I like my sound system in my ‘24 Rubicon:

Oh, wait! That’s not factory. It’s the new Stage 3 plug-n-play by Rockford Fosgate for the ‘24 and up Wtanglers. It was installed in my vehicle as part of their R&D for the product and was introduced last month at SEMA.

I happen to like sirius xm. Its great for areas with no decent radio, No commercials, etc. Yes they spam the offers to death but i just let them until i get a deal like $4/mo plus a $25 visa gift card for 12 mos. So for just over 2 bucks a month, that isn't bad. I can go through the grueling task of deleting an email once in awhile or move to spam. I just can't forget to put the calendar reminder to cancel or I'll be screwed with $20+/mo and then I'll agree 100% it's a ripoff

Some Sirius channels do indeed have occasional commercials. That was a surprise.

I had actually toyed with the idea of subscribing to the service, after the price got down to $4/mo. or so. What ruined it for me was that Sirius was playing the same tired songs, more than once per day and across related channels, that I can hear for free on terrestrial radio. That was a fatal flaw, one that I named The Cherry Pie Problem™.

Listening to uninterrupted music via mp3s from a USB drive has really spoiled me. I now actually have a visceral reaction whenever I hear a DJ's voice. They're now just so unnecessary.

I have to admit, I'm not an audiophile, but that looks AWESOME. [Even at that price point!]

Looks like we took a similar migration path: mine was from Evergreen -> Phx

I have a 2024 Rubicon X fully loaded and the Infotainment system is complete garbage. It constantly loses its connection to the satellite nav system and to my Bluetooth on my phone. Even when its plugged in it looses connection it is trash. I like Alpine but someone dropped the ball. In all honestly it is the worse stereo system I have ever owned in 45 years of driving. Looks awesome but performs like garbage.
