Any word on matching hardtop. My dealer is in the dark.Tempted to go with black and have it painted. But know the day I do, they'll release matching top.I'm pressing my dealer to find out if he can. As soon as I hear back I'll post hopefully good news.
Sounds like Andrew from Jeep cares needs to go back to sleep.Asked jeep chat today about the painted top and he amailed me back this :
This is Andrew of Jeep Vehicle Care emailing in regards to your inquiry about the paint earlier. So from what we were able to find on our end,; the Sting-Gray is a late availability paint color (not a restriction). This exterior paint is slated to become available in mid-March for consumer ordering. With that being said, because this exterior paint is not yet available we cannot confirm if it will be offered with a body color top. Regrettably at the moment you will need to wait until it becomes available to confirm this. Thank you, Andrew, Jeep Vehicle Care
Doesn’t seem knowledgeable at all on the subject. I explained to him the color is indeed orderable currently, and he still responds with that. So let’s just keep checking the dealer order system daily and hope it comes available sooner then later.
My contact at the dealer emailed me and he's been out with the flu. Said he would be working tomorrow and will see if he can find out. I'm just going to wait until its available. Don't want to settle, it looks so much better with body color top.Any word on matching hardtop. My dealer is in the dark.Tempted to go with black and have it painted. You might already know but the black hardtop has a textured finish ,I had a 2010 Wrangler and wanted to match the top colour with the body(something that Jeep did not offer at that time!) so I had a bodyshop do it that I knew well, they charged me $800 Canadian and said after that if they had known the amount of sanding needed they would have charged me more lol... so if you do get it sanded and painted try to find a shop that has already done a few ,going on form,I don't think anyone will know when the coloured tops will open again until they just open up in the ordering system ...I will be ordering a black top with my Wrangler monday and if the coloured top opens up before my order goes to D1 I will be able to change it,if not I will have it painted(its $800 cheaper than a coloured top up here anyway) good luck .Any word on matching hardtop. You have seen Destroyer Gray on a Challenger or Charger? exact same paint code so I have read on other threads, this is a photo I took this week of a Destroyer Gray Challenger ,Rhino Wrangler in the background!..As I am watching my Senators taking the Vegas Golden Knights, I have a feeling that Sting Gray is gonna look just like their helmets’s color ! And it might make me second guess my choice of Granite every time I’ll see one ! Lol

To be clear - your stating that the supplier went bankrupt on "Hard Tops" but your only saying the sting grey is going to be held back ??For those waiting on matching hardtops. Jeep supplier of hardtops went bankrupt. They can only order Sting Grey with black hardtop or softtop. My dealer said they received a bulletin on this and could be anywhere from 2 to 6 months before you see matching hardtop. I went ahead and ordered with softtop and my dealer said they would sell me painted hardtop at cost through the parts department when they became available. Hope this post helps for those waiting on Sting Gray matching top.
I believe he said on all colors. But you might want to call your dealership to confirm .To be clear - your stating that the supplier went bankrupt on "Hard Tops" but your only saying the sting grey is going to be held back ??
Other colors are good ?? or in the same boat ??
Just spoke with my dealer and hasnt heard of this ....yet !I believe he said on all colors. But you might want to call your dealership to confirm .
How can you order it with a black hardtop if they went “bankrupt”? how can you order any other color if they went “bankrupt”? I’m calling BS on this one. How can you order one in 2-6 months if they went “bankrupt”? Don’t trust dealers...For those waiting on matching hardtops. Jeep supplier of hardtops went bankrupt. I was thinking about going with both matching hardtop and softtop, I guess jeep decided for me. Hope this post helps for those waiting on Sting Gray matching top.
Don't shoot the messenger . I presumed they already had black tops in inventory, that is why you can still order a black top. might be same situation on other color match tops. But by all means please call your dealer to see what they have to say about it. Love to hear what info other dealerships have on it.How can you order it with a black hardtop if they went “bankrupt”? how can you order any other color if they went “bankrupt”? He probably says just order one now with a black top though right....? Sounds like he just wants you to place an order and get your money when he really has no idea what he’s talking about. Like I previously stated, one of my dealers told me they don’t sell corvettes, when I asked for sting gray. To each his own though, I’m certainly going to keep waiting
