Don't shoot the messenger . I presumed they already had black tops in inventory, that is why you can still order a black top. might be same situation on other color match tops. But by all means please call your dealer to see what they have to say about it. Love to hear what info other dealerships have on it.

Yeah all dealerships basically do is lie. Not blaming you, but I doubt they are privy to such info that Chrysler would not want ANYBODY to know, such as manufacturer bankrupcies and part delays.

I'm back at dealership. Decided to go with black hardtop. Well see if in fact the computer will except it. I know when they tried to order matching top it kicked the order. Hopefully it excepts black top and I can always get painted.

Just got back from my dealer to order sting gray manual Sahara with number of upgrades.
They say that Manual Sahara now can't be ordered. So bummed. Note tried to order both with and without anti-spin rear axle. Prefer the upgrade but it is grayed out and dealer couldn't even select in the computer.

Just received some clarification. Sting Gray is one of the few colors that Jeep won't let the dealer order a matching top. If it is a sold order they will let you order a Matt Black Hardtop, but not for stock orders. Sounds like they have a hardtop shortage problem and sold units get first priority. I'm pulling the trigger on the black hardtop and can always color match paint at local body shop.

Another member just posted in a separate thread that their dealer told them the tops are painted at a separate location, and the Sting Gray paint hasn't been delivered there yet. That would make more sense than the hard top company going under, but who knows at this point...

First post. New member as of today. Many thanks to fellow members as I read many posts over the past 6 months that helped a lot.

I ordered my Sting-Gray Sahara yesterday with the black hard top. Now the wait starts...

Sounds good. But like you said hard to know what real reason is or dealers making up excuses. I ordered mine with black top and will have local body shop paint. Unless someone can confirm soon before I get Vin assigned.

I ordered Wednesday afternoon, and Jeep chat gave me my VIN on Friday night when I asked if it had been assigned.

  Having second thoughts on black top, might call dealer on Monday to hold order until matching top is available. Ocean blue matching tops just got release, maybe Sting Gray next.

I'm thinking about calling Jeep directly on Monday to see what's up with matching top. Settling on a black top when pay over $50k isn't sitting well with me.What did you decide to do

I guess it's payback for them not knowing why we can't get a dang matching top. I also blame Jeep on this one. Painting a removable top to match your new vehicle isn't rocket science. If you can't order it tell your dealer when it will be available so your customer can make the decision if they want to wait or not . Knowledge is key. If Toyota still made the FJ, I'd be throwing the towel in on the Wrangler. And the funny thing is the Jeep would be my first choice. Just the lack of knowledge on colors and available options isn't impressing me. If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't of even know Sting Gray was available to order. When I walk in to the dealer I feel like I know more than them and I'm no expert by any means.

I can guarantee that you know more than my local dealers.

I talked to my dealer yesterday and asked him to get me a price on what I wanted in this sting gray. He asks me if it's available to order yet.

I wish I could just order what I want on a website, and have it show up 2 months later. Why not? I thought this was the future?
